The Wee Pub

Best pub on Ashton lane. It has a lot more maturity than the other bars on the lane and is cosy and full of character! When the sun is out, try your best to get a seat up on the roof terrace under one of the toasty heaters with a red wine in hand. You may begin to feel like a west end w***er but it’s something worth embracing! Lovely atmosphere. Chin chin

My guy and I stopped in here pre-​dinner and a movie, Halloween night, for a drink. There is no hiding the fact that this is a wee pub as it barely fits 30 people comfortably. We managed to squeeze in and order a couple pints of cider and decided to stand where we could and had a nice chat about our day. After a while, a group of men left the bar and we were able to stand at the bar comfortably.
The bar man was nice, there was a guy and his girlfriend sitting in the corner of the pub. The guy, obviously, had waaaaaaay too much to drink and was in the process of passing out as we moved towards the bar. His girl tried to get him up and out of the pub but was unable. The bar man gave out a sigh, looked at me and said ‘so it begins’. He filled a glass of water and brought it over to the slumped over guy and tried to get him to at least wake up. Never in a million years have I seen this happen in a pub, let alone, one in Glasgow. It was nice to see that there are still nice people in the world.
This is a great place to stop in for a pint before hitting Ashton Lane or venturing further. I’m sure we’ll be back.

It seems almost pointless to review the Chip’s wee brother at this point. If you’re a West End local you know it, if you’re not a local, or just visiting, then you’re missing out. Sort your shiznit out!
What’s there to say about the Wee Pub? It’s Wee. It’s a Pub. It’s a cute hole in the wall with a fantastic ambiance and a great menu of both liquid and solid refreshments.
Whether stopping in for a quick tipple, or a boozy catch up, if you can find a seat there’s a nice night to be had. My two complaints would be thus; firstly, it can be hell in the lane on a Friday night, which includes the occasional crush at the doors. Secondly, when the keg’s run dry, they can take a really long time in changing them, I don’t know why, maybe I’ve just been unlucky.

Yes, folks, the Wee Pub at the Chip is… well, a wee pub underneath The Ubiquitous Chip. If you’re lucky enough to get in, you’ll like it. It’s cosy, it’s warm, it’s snug. But it is tiny. I mean, everyone inside could probably touch a wall, no matter where they sit.
They have Belhaven on draft, and the pint I got was cold and tasty, and I got a warm welcome from the one barman on duty. The bar is so small, I’d imagine if they put two in, there’s be collisions galore.
I am possibly too large to fit behind the bar, and not in a FNAAAR FNAAAAR way. I would possibly get claustrophobia.
Other than the size, and pretty snazzy lights hanging from the ceiling, there’s not much that’s unique about it. It is, at the end of the day, just a wee pub underneath The Chip.

This is supposedly the smallest pub in Britain, although the bar tender told me a place in Edinburgh claims the same title.
The location here is great, and the pub shares space with the Ubiquitous Chip and allows you to order from their food menu. The atmosphere is cozy and charming. I think it’s a real gem.

Love this Wee Pub.
Could it be better stocked? Maybe.
Could it be better laid out? Perhaps.
But once you are in, if you can get in, it takes on a life of it’s own. I think the size, it’s not called the The Wee Pub for nothing, means that everyone resets their expectations.
You will have to move to let people past no matter where you sit or stand. You will get the odd bump or nudge, and when it’s full it can be damn tricky moving at all!
But everyone in there knows this and so it takes on a much more relaxed feel to a lot of other bars. Everyone just seems that little but more friendly and understanding.
They do offer bar snacks which, as they are part of the Ubiquitous Chip, are damn tasty and the bar is well stocked enough to meet most tastes, you may have to compromise but so what!
Often too busy to get in, it’s always worth sticking your head in the door as it’s deceptive. It may look full from outside but we managed to score two seats in the corner!

Can’t really give a full review as just bobbed in here for a quick one before heading off to the Grosvenor Cinema.
Seems a fun little place though. Got talking to the barman and a mate of his who works in another bar in town.
Both were decent lads and as a couple of Mixologists, they were in the midst of creating a new cocktail called the Q-​gar.
So called, I’m assured, because it has Cucumber, Grape & Apple added to the Vodka and not (necessarily) because it appeals to women with a penchant for younger men.

Pubs don’t get much wee-​er than the Wee Pub. Well unless you try one or two of the dives down in Dunoon.
This naturally makes it quite an atmospheric place on a Saturday night though, when its full to the rafters, even though it feels like you’re sharing a bus shelter with King Kong.
However I did find the place to be rather expensive and predominantly occupied by males. I suppose you kind of have to go here just to see how wee this place really is and just so you can say you’ve been to a place called «The Wee Pub». But during the weekends you probably won’t be able to stand it for too long.
