Rodgers Butcher

I’ve just moved here and as an avid cook I wanted to befriend a good local butcher.
Well, these guys didn’t disappoint.
From having a 5 min healthy discussion on preferences of wing-​tip sirloin and ribs of beef I was given a sneeky peep round the back. These guys provide the beef for the best steak places in Glasgow. I’d eaten at one of them earlier in the week and my eyes were bulging at the trays of chateaubriands and rib in sirloins.
So, as you’d expect, their meat is very well sourced and as good as you’re going to get anywhere.
I took a1kg 1rib Angus and pan roasted it in butter and wilted rosemary to get a good sear, then a quick 15 mins in the oven. I had it sat on some roasted beetroot purée with a port, wine and fresh beef stock reduction and the beef was some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Superb quality and ageing.
Week after I wanted a lamb rump as I had the hunger for some dauphinoise. They were happy just to prep some up straight away, no fuss. The lamb was delicious… as was the dauph ;)
…and the sausages. Get the Italian fennel ones and slow cook cook them in your tomato sauce for pasta. Very, very impressive.
Prices are as you’d expect for meat of this quality.
Look on the window for weekly £10 deals. Steak and chicken. Well worth it.

Popped in here to buy some stuff for a BBQ I was heading to. Holy smokes. The case of dry aging meat in the back should be your clue to this little artisanal butcher being amazing. I bought some stuff and my Glaswegian friends were amazed that they overlooked this place time and time again. Amazing quality and friendly knowledgeable butchers. Fantastic!

This JOINT rests unassumingly on Byres Road and claims to be purveyors of fine meats. They are indeed.
Walk by often enough, but was compelled to go in today noticing the £10 offer which includes 2 sirloin steaks, 2 pork loins, 4 steak lorne sausages and 4 pork sausages. And if that doesn’t make you want to go as well, you’re either a vegetarian, or just plain olé crazy (yes, those are different).
Nice décor, welcoming, with a good layout and professional staff.
Excellent selection of all sorts, including lamb burgers that are absolutely getting destroyed next visit.
Delighted with my purchase today and will return. Enough said.
