There’s something about the different way in which men and women view the world that makes me laugh.
Take horoscopes for example. In a moment of utter boredom I picked up a copy of Cosmo or some such ballocks and read the soothsayers ramblings. «A friend will find themselves in a situation that will have you reaching for the tissues.» While this will no doubt result in some poor hen breaking down in tears, a bloke would be thinking of a story his mate told him about some dirty tart who took it all ways, imagining it was him and using it as grade A wank fodder.
It’s like handbags. I bought my burd a handbag out of here for Christmas and it cost a fucking fortune. She thought it was brilliant, but I’m thinkin’ «Eh? It’s just a fuckin bag?»
Ah well.

Shhhhhh!!! Don’t tell but I was returning a Christmas present. I normally love whatever I receive but this present, in my case, was a bit mature for me. It was a large purse in a leather browny orange colour and sadly it just wasn’t singing Jingle Bells to me.
I wasn’t going to exchange it but I was convinced by friends to do so, as it would honestly just lie there unused. So I was wee bit apprehensive as I’ve never been to Ollie & Nic and as far as I was aware it was going to be posh and expensive because it was in Princes Square.
Not having been in Princes Square in aaages I had no idea whereabouts it was. Fortunately I chose the right entrance and came across it pretty much straight away. I was worried I was going to be gazed upon by sales assistants but alas there was another customer and 2 sales assistants were working together at the till. So I noseyed my way round the shop as I had no idea what to expect. It actually sells lovely accessories and bags, I think I might have been in there for awhile. I had no idea of how much the purse was orignally bought for and of course no receipt so wasn’t sure how they would be on exchanging.
So after a while I spied a couple of lovely items I wouldn’t mind being in possession of. I plucked up the courage and braved the counter. I was greeted by the 2 sales assistants and they were very pleasant and helpful. The other assistant served another customer while I explained to the other assistant my situation. She was fortunately able to pinpoint when abouts the purse was purchased, she knows her stock well, and was able to get the original price. It had been a sale item so I could only get what the purse was sold for and that was absolutely fine with me. She said she just had to call and confirm with her manager which is fair enough.
So without any hesitation I picked up a beautiful new laptop cover, which I’ve being looking out for, in blue all covered in little bows and gorgeous flower clip for my hair. I was absolutely delighted with my exchange.
I would definitely go back as the prices weren’t as horrendous as I thought and there was plenty of lovely items on sale too.

Ollie and Nic is an utterly adorable jewellery boutique situated in Princes Square. Selling chintzy little delights such as tiny teapots on gold necklace chains, its retro, floral appeal is very much inkeeping with the current trend for such cute accessories.
This is like Accessorize’s better dressed sister in my opinion (and Accessorize is a gorgeous store in my honest opinion, so the only way is up for Ollie!) The jewellery and accessories are delicate, girly and classy, being very well made and worth the pennies.
For all that, it’s not even that expensive if you’re looking for a gift — each item is between £20-«40 on average. They have some glorious bags reminiscent of the kind you can buy in Cath Kidston, and little letter necklaces which would make for a gorgeous, special present.
Definitely somewhere you shop if you’re wanting to treat someone (or in my case, be indulgent and treat myself), it’s quite beguiling, unique and fronted with great staff. My kind of place.

Ollie & Nic is a growing influence in the fashion industry, but the brand is still small enough for the shop in Prince’s Square to feel special and unique. Plus, if you do get your hands on one of the to-​die-​for handbags in here, you won’t ever bump into anyone else with the same one. Well, unless you have copy-​cat friends!
I could stay in here for hours and hours just gazing lovingly at the leather bags, purses and jewelery. They also sell a lovely selection of hats, scarves and gloves — if you fancy being luxuriously warm.
Plus, this is the kind of shop when the shop assistants look so desperately cool that you wish they were your friends. Maybe if you could just afford that handbag…

A little shop full of loveliness tucked away in Princes Square, Ollie & Nic specialises in the most beautiful bags, purses and accessories. Their cute and quirky items include fabric floral rings and corduroy bags and purses.
Everything here has a hand made feel and offers something a little out of the ordinary that you wouldn’t find in your average high street store. Absolutely perfect for presents for family, friends or more often than not, for yourself.

My latest favourite discovery! I had been browsing their website for a few months in my hunt for special Christmas prezzies and bookmarked it as a favourite when I fell in love with some of their cute and stylish jewellery. I kept popping back, falling more in love each time, until I decided that I just *had* to buy *that* necklace for my friend since it was soooo perfect for her and, what luck, it was in the sale!
My heart sank when I looked up the delivery costs which would add £4.95 on to the price of the item. Hmmm not so much of a bargain afterall. Then I spotted the ‘store locations’ tab which I had never noticed before. With little hope, I clicked on it. To my delight, there was a store in Glasgow!!! How did I not know this?
I carted myself off the next day praying that the store did exist and that the necklace would be there. It did and it was. Located on the ground floor of Princes Square, this is somewhere I had passed by without so much as a glance. Now I found myself declaring it was ‘the best shop ever’ as I stood transfixed at the sale stand.
The full prices for the jewellery are expensive but not ridiculously so although I think the handbags and purses would cost a pretty penny. Pretty being the operative word since they themselves are rather pretty indeed.
I’d advice you to pop along while the sale is still on though — many items are half price matching prices of Accessorize and the like but a little bit different. Top notch service too. I love it!
