O2

As part of my mission to get a new phone provider, I checked this shop out as one of my comparisons, and O2 made it onto my final short list of 2.
As a retail outlet, it looks fairly tired, and could do with a bit of a re-​fit. It’s just your bog standard phone shop — phones down the side, and banks of desk at one side. But that’s fine really, I’m not buying the shop.
The guy I spoke to was pretty good. When I told him I was on a comparison mission, he was just straight down the line, and applied every discount he could, so there was no messing about. The only snag was that I use approx 2G of data, but O2 don’t do packages with 2G, they do 1G or 3G, which makes them a bit out of step with every other phone provider. Maybe it’s intentional, but as I only need 2G there’s no point in me paying for G I don’t need, so while their prices were competitive, it just didn’t work for me this time.
I’d definitely consider them next time though, they seemed to know what they were doing.

I switched service providers from Giff Gaff to o2 when I bought my phone from o2 back in September of last year. I did everything online, so I hadn’t yet experienced the woeful customer service that o2 has. There are so many days that go by that wish I had stayed with Giff Gaff and left o2 well enough alone.
Since I paid for everything with my bank card online, I was told by a member of this location that I would be unable to make payments with any other card except for the bank card I used and I would have to contact o2 on the phone to switch payment cards. Being American, I have a savings account with my American bank that has a chip and pin that I would like to use, and they flat out told me that they don’t accept the American card. That’s funny, since it has a Visa logo, and as far as I know, that’s accepted basically everywhere. I went online to chat with a service rep about the same thing, and they agreed that I would have to call to have my payment changed, but that they wouldn’t be able to accept my American card.
Not only that, but I surely miss Apple (my old phone was an iphone) because any little problem I had with my phone, Apple stepped up to the plate and fixed it no questions asked. With o2, I have go through hoops to get anything done and everything that has needed to be done has taken so long to do, it’s almost not worth having any sort of communication with them what so ever.
Unfortunately, I signed up for a 2 year contract so I’m stuck with o2 for a while. Steer clear of o2, their customer service is rotten both in store and online. They’re not worth your time.
Fingers crossed, I won’t need to be in touch with them any more until my contract is up.

I’ve been with O2 since moving to the UK and generally have been a pretty happy customer. I’ve been messed a lot recently though on my quest to get my hands on the iPhone 6 plus (judge me all your like, I am totally ok with being an Apple fan-​girl).
I won’t go into the whole story here as it’s far too long and boring, but I’ve been told different things by pretty much every person I’ve dealt with at O2. I popped in here to speak to someone in person. The staff were all busy with customers when I went in so I loitered about for a while until someone offered to help me. The guy I spoke to was really helpful, telling me that the stores weren’t allocated 6 plus stock for the launch, and that they weren’t really sure what was happening either. So while I left with not much of an answer, I was pretty happy that someone was actually honest for once.
O2 — get your act together. Having phones available and dispatched on pre-​order for customers who ordered by phone/​online but not instore is pretty damn frustrating as an existing O2 customer. If this review was for O2 as a whole, I’d be giving them 1 star. But at least this store has ok customer service, so 3 it is.

Mobile phone salesman are in my opinion the worst group of people in the world. They spout an hours worth of jargon at you, then act like you’re best friend until you refuse to sign up for the insurance, at which point they begin talking to you like something they just wiped of their shoe. Hangings to good for ‘em.
This place is no different, but I’ll give them an extra star as when I came in to ask how to use my new handset which was baffling me, they were marginally less patronising than others i had encountered.
