I read some positive reviews, I just needed to update my prescription. It was the best eye test I have had. The optician and staff were very friendly, their selection of exclusive glasses was very interesting to look through.

This store is a multi coloured odd loving persons dream.
I recently found out that my misreading of bus numbers (and subsequent un-​needed travels around new parts of Edinburgh) was not my usual batch of mishaps but that my eyes are starting to go. Sad for my eyes, happy for my face.
On looking around Edinburgh I could not find a ‘funky’ eyewear option, so I hot footed through to Glasgow after much researching. Oh my gosh I was not disappointed, there is so much choice in-​store and the staff were super lovely (and one lady had a whole yellow outfit on — swoon).
There was so much choice, I got overwhelmed and couldn’t make up my mind! I will be back super soon to make a purchase!

Thinking about glasses got me thinking about here and so I thought I should pop up a review, even though it was a few years back I visited.
I came here to get my eyes tested and new glasses and found the whole process enjoyable and very professional. They are clearly a higher end glasses store and had a great range of glasses — this is the kind of place you can go in with no idea of what you want and they’ll give you some recommendations that will actually suit you.
The glasses I got here I’ve been wearing for 5 years now and I still love them as much as I did back then. They were quite expensive (I think around £300) but I love the shape of the frames and think they suit my face. Now that I’m looking to get another pair, I’m going to head back here to see what they recommend.

I’ve been a customer of Niche Optical Tailor for over 3 years now and from the very first day of discovering this gem I was hooked I was like the proverbial wean in a sweetie shoap the choice was endless and because of that, it is so hard to choose! That said, the staff are so knowledgeable and listen to you and helpfully guide you, which makes it so much easier. They just seem to have an eye for what suits your shape of face etc.
I’ve been wearing specs, almost since the day I was born (which wisnae yesterday) and I’ve
never received service like this in any other optical establishment. in fact everyone of them all fall very far short of the Niche standards; both in the styles offered and the knowledge, warmth and efficiency of the staff. Nothing is ever too much bother for them.
The last pair of glasses I purchased were for my daughter’s wedding and the Manager, Brenda spent a long time with me, listening to my wishes and helping me to choose the colour of stones and placing a special order. end result = one extremely happy MOTB.
The staff give me the impression that they are happy in their work, and I’ve been in a lot over the years. The testimonials on the website, from fellow professionals just speak volumes.
Well done Niche for being different. a much needed breath of fresh air for spec wearers in Glasgow.

Omg omg omg omg I have just discovered this place and LOVE it! Usually I get my glasses from Oscar and Fitch but I must admit my loyalty is severely tested by Niche!
Once you get past the fact that calling yourself an «optical tailors» instead of an opticians is ludicrously pretentious this store is a bespectacled geeks dream! I recently converted over to contact lenses but I still like to wear glasses on occasion when I feel my outfit would benefit from it!
Niche stocks THE coolest designer labels and I don’t mean your boring D&G and Gucci labels that every Specsavers seems to sell nowadays. I’m talking the kind of labels that only those in the know will have heard of. Labels like Luxottica and Histoire De Voir.
The most awesome thing about Niche though is that every Sunday they sell vintage frames from the 1950s to the 1980s! If that hasn’t convinced you to give Niche a go then how about the fact that Billy Connolly and Franz Ferdinand are fans?

This opticians is second to none.
The service is absolutly first class and they make you feel really special.
The eye test are extremely through and the choice of glasses frames and sunglasses are amazing — fabulous brands from top designers both well known and more unique.
The location on Candleriggs is easily accessible by public transport and there is a car park across the road.
One of my absolute favourite places to go in Glasgow — and its an opticians!
