Newsbox is slightly more expensive than your average newsagents, but that’s to be expected in the city centre. As well as being one of the few newsagents up in this street in town, it’s also one of the best in town. Selling a large variety of bagged sweeties, it is the first port of call for most people before a night(or day) at the movies. They sell a number of cheap rolls, sandwiches etc, as well as a number of drinks. It’s not that much more expensive buying a 2 l bottle of water in here than it is to get 500ml, so even though it may seem bulky, I would opt for the bigger option. Selling ciggies for the smokers and being open well into the early hours(maybe it’s a 24 hour shop, can’t recall) it is a wise choice if you’re wanting a snack when in the area.

Found myself diving in here a few times before the cinema if I am struggling for time, where I would normally go to the Sainsburys round the corner. They have a great selection of sweets and crisps, with a relatively poor choice of soft drinks, by comparison. It’s tight inside, with alot of other patrons also making a snappy purchase ahead of cinema time. A good shout for last-minute snacks and supplies you can stuff inside your coat pockets(after paying for them, of course).

This is a great little branch of Newsbox is always busy with smart cinema goers, refusing to pay the crazy confectionery prices across the road. They have a great selection of sweets, crisps and drinks which are ideal for stuffing into your bag on your way into the cinema. They also sell household essentials such as toilet roll, safety pins and a whole shelf of bits and bobs that you might need around the home. Smaller than other branches, this Newsbox does well with its enviable location and is usually queued right out the door. An absolute lifesaver for cinema treats.

I always screw up my face in disbelief when I see people actually queuing up in Cineworld to buy chocolate, drinks or sweets. Why? Because I just don’t understand why you would pay the cinema’s exorbitant prices when you could just pop across the road to the Newsbox newsagent. Just thirty paces(okay, that was a guess) from the front doors of the Cineworld and a little rush across the road is the newsagent that is Newsbox. There’s usually a queue of cinema-goers with the same idea, but you never have to wait more than a couple of minutes as the service is quick in here. They have a great range of bagged sweets, chocolates, crisps, drinks and magazines — although they do have those signs stuck up that say«Don’t read the magazines before you buy them.» The service isn’t the friendliest in here — but who cares when you’re saving all that money?!

Call me crazy for even having one, but this is by far my favourite Newsbox. And why, I hear you cry. Well… it’s because it’s right across the road from the Cineworld cinema. And, um, well… that’s about as far as it goes. To its favour, though, it does have a smashing selection of sweets, crisps, and drinks. You even find the odd throwback sweetie showing up here. I don’t know if they just find the odd old box out the bag or if they’re on top of that sort of thing. All I know is that it’s the only place I can find things like Squares(crisps), Vice Versas(Okay, that was 3 years ago, but still amazing!) and Crispy M&Ms. It’s super convenient, it’s very cheap, and they have everything I could ever want for my cinema-snacking needs. They also have a pretty good selection of magazines. Beautiful!
