OK — I am talking to men here. Admit it, as a man you suck at gifts. You can’t buy jewelry — she has everything covered and the last thing she needs is another pair of earrings. Also jewelry store salespeople love confused guys coming in to buy a gifts for their companion female. With enough guilt, you will pay their mortgage for the month. In addition, you don’t know her size and you would not dare buy her clothes that remind her that she is not the weight or body shape that she thinks will make her happy. So — this is easy. Bath stuff. Not a bar of Imperial Leather but stuff for her bath that allows her to settle in and pamper herself for several hours in the tub. While you get to go and play video-games or watch movies she hates Do you know who is responsible for all of that pampering and glorious relaxation? You are! You made her feel good — you have no idea how — but you did it. Reward yourself on a job well done. Now second part — you do not even try figure what is in these things. Go grab a pre-wrapped gift box — there will be a price on it. They come in a variety of prices — fit for every situation. Take that up to the counter and, hey — — - problem solved. You are now ready for whatever comes up — birthday, annual festivity and random occasion–«its been sixteen months since we first had Pasta together, its our pasta-versary !!!». This location is great, since you can get here while visiting Mark and Spencers or the Apple Store. No need to trek to Buchanan Street. You can thank me later.

I love Lush products. I love buying them, receiving them as gifts and giving them as gifts. They’re constantly bringing in new stock as well as keeping the old favourites, and if you should find that your favourite product has been discontinued, fear not! For the Lush website has a ‘retro’ department, and chances are you can find your top discontinued item(s) in there. The products keep you going back time and time again, and you always find something new to coo over, even if you only popped in a week previously. The gifts come pre-wrapped and, fair enough, giving one of these to your mum/aunt/sister/friend for a birthday/Christmas/divorce present isn’t particularly imaginative, but it’s great if you’re a last minute shopper like me. They won’t accuse you of not putting any thought into gift-buying, they’ll be too busy marvelling at the pretty packaging and the smellies within. Thank you, Lush. You’ve saved my bacon time and time again. I used to work for this particular branch of Lush, two years ago when I was a grumpy Master’s research student miserably writing about Kafka and the futility of life. By the time my Lush contract expired, I’d been living amidst pink glittery products and the smiley staff in their ‘happy happy’ land, which did have an effect on me, I must admit. That’s not a criticism, what I mean is that it was quite refreshing to be around young people who weren’t existentially challenged/grumpy/misanthropic for a change. Well, apart from one of two, but you get that in every workplace. The staff really do care about customers, they’ll go that extra mile to make somebody smile, even if they’re not buying but just browsing. There are always loads of products available for trying out in-store, and one time I put 4 bath bombs in a bowl just to impress two teenage boys. They told my(lovely) boss that I was the ‘best assistant ever’ for doing this mad experiment. I didn’t even have to put them up to it! That made me blush and beam, something I’m not usually prone to. Bless ‘em! I still had to clean the mess I made, though, so there was no sitting in the ivory tower for too long! Lush also genuinely care about animals and the environment, so don’t think that their much-publicised campaigns are just clever marketing ploys, all the staff do their homework. A star is being knocked off, however, for the way we temps were told our contracts were coming to an end early, though, as it seemed to go against the way the usually people-friendly company operates… but I’ll forgive them because I got a lot of free shit before I left. Swings and roundabouts, people, swings and roundabouts.

You always go into lush and come out wondering…“wow what is in those products?” Not because; they smell amazing(which they do), or there skin products work wonders(which they do-bb seaweed face mask amazing) or there gift sets are so pretty and perfectly wrapped(which they are). But Because there staff are super friendly and helpful, ecstatic and talk in lightening high pitched speed! They are always so happy and everything is so «awesome, super and amazing» I want whatever they are having my boss would be shocked if we all went into work that happy!

Nice but cosier sized branch. Helpful staff will happily go back and find something for you if it has run out in the shop. Also good if you tell them favourite scents, if you want vegan items etc and will suggest thihngs they use.

This is quite a small branch of Lush but you still get that overwhelming smell that knocks you in the face as soon as you’re in the immediate vicinity. Not that that’s a bad thing, everything here smells delicious! The only downside is that after a while everything just smells the same. Lush is great for a treat for yourself after a stressful week or a gift for female friends and relatives. You can choose from the ready made boxes which are beautifully wrapped and always look good as a gift, or you can choose the items yourself and get them gift wrapped at the counter. Usually you can get them put in a gift box but they’ve recently started this special gift wrap service where you can choose one of their many vintage scarves and get your ‘smellies’ wrapped up in that. This is a little bit different and the recipient of the gift gets a nice new scarf into the bargain! The staff are always very knowledgeable on all of their products and I’m always especially intrigued by their vast selection of face masks to suit various different skin types. All of these face masks are made with the finest natural ingredients and smell good enough to eat, although I wouldn’t advise it. I’ve bought a few of these skin concoctions and whether they worked or not, they sure made me feel pampered.

I have been so exceedingly happy with the service and staff at this branch of Lush that I’ve called the Head Office to pass on my feedback. Outstanding and happily, apparently typical of Lush’s ethos and effort towards customers.
