Lush

I love love love lush! A delights for all the senses there is so much to smell and see and touch! An ever increasing selection of smellies is a dream come true for a bath lover like me.
The displays are always so eye-​catching and fun, and I think Lush has something for everyone. The bath bombs are incredibly famous as are the shower jellies and fantastic face masks. I love that the produce is cruelty free and no synthetic products are used.
I will say — I think the customer service is a tad overly helpful — I was nearly knocked over by two ‘helpful’ shop assistants diving at my at the same time today to see if I needed a hand! I’m pretty laid back about overbearing service but it was a bit much even for me — in a 15 minute visit I must have been approached no less then a dozen times. The shop is also ridiculously busy and the layout isn’t fantastic at dispersing this– it can feel a wee bit like being pushed through a cattle market.
I forgive these faults to a great extent because Lush has so much to offer — now a high street institution and rightly so, I don’t often walk past without stopping for at least a wee sniff.

As much as I love lush the staff in here a really overwhelming on a recent trip I was asked 6+ times if I wanted any help, the fact that I was pestered so much made me leave without purchasing anything because staff where being too pushy and not giving me a chance to browse the items! It’s a shame because I really love what lush stand for it just looks like I’ll have to stick to their website to shop in peace!

But there’s a serious side to Lush too, in that they have high ethical standards. They are very vocal about fighting animal testing, and have ethical buying policies. All of their products are vegetarian, and quite a lot of them are vegan (and helpfully clearly labelled). Their products are hand made, minimally packaged, and have funny, quirky names. They can be a little bit pricey, but given their high standards, it’s worth paying now and then for a wee treat, or for that special product that you just can’t do without.
My ‘can’t do without’ product is their Full of Grace facial serum bar. It’s a solid bar that you melt in your hands then massage into your face. It sinks right in so you can use it for daytime as well as night, and it’s fine under make up too. When I first started using it, it made my skin so soft, and I was hooked.
I also like their perfumes. I’m really sensitive to artificial fragrances and got to a point last year where I just couldn’t use ‘normal’ perfume any more. The thought that I might go through life ponging like Stig of the Dump upset me greatly, but also upset my boyfriend, as I’d just bought him an aftershave that he was then unable to use without me recoiling in disgust. Which isn’t really the desired outcome.
The employees in Lush are VERY patient — I went through a phase of going in every couple of lunchtimes, trying on a new perfume, and walking out without buying anything. They must have been thinking ‘oh yeah there’s free perfume girl in again to cadge our fine scents’ but they were so nice and helpful, and helped me find a couple that I can wear comfortably. My current favourite is Dirty. It’s a fresh and minty spritz — very summery, and just makes me feel clean and fragrant. They change and discontinue perfumes quite a lot though, so I’m currently sort of stockpiling it whenever I have any spare cash, in case it’s one of the ones that gets the chop!
The staff are also just generally lovely people, and often just dish out compliments — ‘nice scarf’ or ‘I really like your badges’. How nice! OK maybe they are doing it on purpose to make me feel all nice and appreciated and noticed while I’m in there, but it works. I love them!
Lush is also ideal for presents. There’s not many people that wouldn’t love a little something from Lush — even most men would appreciate something or other. Apart from maybe my mum, who doesn’t like anything that smells of fruit ‘why would I want to smell like a strawberry’ is a memorable mum phrase. But I’m sure I found a hand cream or a foot soak that she liked once, so Lush for the win every time.

I’ve been a fan of Lush since before they were Lush. Way back in the olden days just after Mark Constantine left the Body Shop there was a mail order company called Cosmetics to go, it wasn’t around for long but my obsession with bathbombs began with a Cosmetics to go blackcurrant one, I inadvertently used it to dye my Mum’s enamel bath purple — ahhh happy days. Cosmetics to go went and Lush arrived and my long suffering mother should probably get an honourable mention for not firebombing Lush. My sisters and I have between us welded dried flowers to the side of the bath — fox in the flowers bathbomb, dyed all the grout and brand new towels bright red — henna hair block and hospitalised my dad — allergic reaction to karma perfume. And those are just the ones I remember!
But I love the products. Cruelty free, innovate, sparingly packaged and always do exactly what they say they are going to. I’m not going to pretend that they aren’t on the spendy side, but you get what you pay for. The shampoos and conditioners are out of this world good, if you haven’t tried them you must.
The staff are knowledgable and passionate and always super friendly and welcoming. Combined with the sucker punch of gorgeous fragrances I can’t help but grin like a loon in Lush and always spend way way more than I planned to!

This place is AMAZING! Don’t have a bad word to say about it. Not only are the products fantastic! The staff in this store are great, it was my first time in a lush shop so I had no idea what to pick but the staff were so helpful and welcoming I left with some great products that were highly recommended to me by a staff member called Ross who was lovely! All of the staff are so friendly and I absolutely love the whole recycling the tubs idea and how everything is made with eco friendly fresh ingredients and it is all cruelty free! I will definitely be shopping in Lush again.

Too brilliant for words. I’m amazed I haven’t written more often about how wonderful this shop is. All the staff are brill. As I live in Edinburgh and the shop has moved to west end the Glasgow shop easier for me. I visit Glasgow every 6 – 8 weeks.
This shop has a lassie I saw who’s name in Amy. Since my first visit about 2 yrs (?)ago, has been a stellar helper. Her gentle genuine and sincere bubbliness is magical. She’s helped me choose a myriad of products over these yrs. And over time I feel we are buddies. I love giving and receiving hugs with her. I have clinical depression so many things are hard for me.
5 stars for Lush Glasgow Buchanan St!!!

Okay disclaimer time, I’m a huge fan of Lush so it was probably always going to be 5 stars from me! Why do I love it, the ethos of the brand is fantastic and they make outstanding products to boot. Not just bath & shower products, great perfumes (including their solid perfume range), skincare and cosmetics. Most of which are vegan and clearly cruelty free. I also love the staff. They are always smiling, helpful and clearly love working for Lush! They are happy to help out, demonstrate products and it’s never with any pressure to buy which is refreshing.
There are lots of products I love and although the price point can be towards the more expensive, I think it’s worth it for the fresh products that are so nice to use.
This store is well laid out and has a great selection of pre boxed gifts that quite frankly make great pick me ups for yourself too. If you haven’t been along yet check it out.

I loved the old, Aladdin’s Cave of a Lush shop on the other side of Buchanan St, but there’s no getting away from the fact that since the move into their larger premises over the road shopping at Lush has become an even more pleasant experience. With loads of natural light, friendly and pleasant staff and a hands-​on approach to product testing, I could easily spend all day in Lush if I could afford the consequences. And today I traded in five black pots for a free face mask — bonus!

So. First off, let me offer you a piece of advice about Lush. If you’re popping in for something, DO NOT DO IT ON THE SATURDAY BEFORE MOTHER’S DAY.
I wish someone had told me this before I did exactly that.
Although, to give credit to the staff — they coped admirably with the crowd, a heady mixture of people who knew what they were in for, were clearly regular Lush buyers, people who had been told to go and get something that smelled nice as a present, people dragged in against their will to shop.
I was in because I’d never been in since the move, and I thought I’d look. I’m visiting a friend soon, and thought it would be nice to get something from Lush for her. Using my excellent detective skills and subtle prying, I figured out that I was looking for a glittery thing to put in a bath.
Why you would want to have a bath and come out covered in glitter is beyond me, but I presume it’s some kind of pampering thing that I as a lesser brained male just doesn’t understand, but that’s besides the point.
The ever suffering staff put up with my bemused face, and barely passable description of what I was looking for, and tracked down what I was looking for. Also, I picked up a robot style bath bomb for myself. For reasons.
Lush stuff is pretty damned good, it really does feel like a treat. This would be the second Lush thing I’d used in the past 4 years, so I’m not a regular customer. I don’t really feel I’m the target market, but they do have a nice range of guy things in there too.
It was just way too busy to fight my way over to them and try and break the circle of abandoned husbands, boyfriends, sons, and fathers that were over there trying to figure out what planet they were on…
The products themselves are reasonably priced for what they are and how they’re manufactured and the store itself is bright, well laid out (when not full of crazy people) and man oh man, that smell as you walk by… it’s alluring, is what it is.
I might have to go back pretty soon. When it’s not busy. And find something other than a robot bath bomb to try!

If you ask any of my friends, they can tell you how much I love Lush, I’ve spent a veritable fortune on bath bombs and other gorgeous bath accoutrements, but one whiff of that beautiful signature Lush shop smell and you’ll be hooked. I pop into this particular branch fairly frequently and have never left empty handed! All the staff are incredibly friendly and are always happy to provide a demonstration of the products and answer queries you might have about the ingredients, but overall are just very nice to have a chat with. If you like the look of a particular product but are on the fence about committing, the staff would be more than happy to provide a sample for you to take home and try! Lush Buchanan street is definitely worth a visit if you ever find yourself in that part of town, so pop in and have a whiff!

I popped into Lush on a dreich Friday afternoon to get some solid perfume for an upcoming holiday. I wasn’t sure they still sold solid perfume as I was looking at photos online of an older style on and I couldn’t see it on their online shop.
So in I dived to the new store on Buchanan Street. Firstly — I normally try to avoid Lush because I’m not a fan of strong smells and it usually puts me right off. For some reason I didn’t particularly notice it yesterday so maybe they rain was washing it away so I was able to linger a bit longer than normal. A shop assistant quickly helped me out with my solid perfume dilemma and explained they changed the packaging to a small pot rather than a tube as it meant you could use the whole thing rather than losing some of the produce when the tube broke. There’s maybe 8 solid perfumes to choose from and it wasn’t too hard to find a couple that I liked, especially as they have spray versions of them as well.
The experience at the checkout was great as well, with natural, chatty staff. I’m always impressed by the staff at Lush as they really are lovely people who are super helpful and know their product range really well. They will always upsell you the £1 charity lip gloss but I can’t resist it, even if I never use it.
I also think this store is a better layout than their previous one on the other side of Buchanan Street (where Kiehl’s now is) so their move actually makes sense.

I wouldn’t usually write a review for a shop but my experience here was just too good to pass this by.
I went into Lush knowing exactly what I wanted — and after a quick chatty exchange with Lisa she took me over to the part of the store where the «Silky Underwear» was kepy (it’s a beautiful body powder!) and then proceeded to give me a lovely arm massage with one of their massage bars.
Lisa obviously knows so much about their products — telling me about where they get the Cocoa Butter for their «peace» massage bar. And after the arm rub, Lisa made sure I knew that there was absolutely no pressure for me to buy the massage bar — something which is so rare when you’ve given a practical demonstration of a product.
The Lush products are all brilliantly made, so much so that the slightly higher price range is totally worth it. Great new store with a fantastic new layout — and staff who are a pleasure to chat to.

Ah wow. Amazing retail experience. Erica? is a fantastic sales assistant and went through most of their ranges and allowed me to try everything that suited my skin type.
The Care and attention shown was charming and I went away with loads of samples and a few makeup products.
Lovely new open plan store with attentive staff and great products.
Although it does have a bit of a price tag, the ethics are amazing– the lack of animal testing and environmental policies are first rate. Lovely place. Lovely people.

The open floor plan of the new Lush store was lovely. The opening had lots of demo stations and fun activities. I’m not a fan of waiting or big crowds so we were in and out in just a few minutes. We’ll be excited to return on a less busy day.
