Has some interesting items but not really my style. I was packed quite full and there were loads of people getting their shop on. It seems more business woman attire than really suits my personal style.

Hobbs targets the educated consumer, women who appreciate fine fabrics and are willing to pay more for quality construction. Perhaps the hemlines are a tad longer than found at other boutiques and the styles a little more subdued. And yes, the prices are a bit higher, but not if you look closer at the construction. I look at it like this. If I’m going to invest in clothing, I want to be able to wear it more than one season and definitely, to more than one event.

I definitely agree with the two previous reviewers; in that Hobbs does have some lovely pieces. Though these are more suitable for the 30+ ladies who are working hand and playing hard with after dinner networking drinks in The Corinthian — you know where I’m going with this? Yet, on the few occasions I’ve been in here — mostly with the mother — I’ve noticed that many of the pieces are also a little on the frumpy side as well as being for more mature clientele. However, this is a nice shop with a lovely interior, some real classy little numbers. This is further improved by the friendly, chatty and extremely helpful staff; who are undoubtedly working on some sort of commission.

Hobbs is super expensive woman’s wear for the alpha business woman. I think even if I was very rich, I could gt the same sort of thing in many other places than Hobbs. I like it, don’t get me worn, the stuff is ok, not too nice, and not too bad. It is mostly simple designs, or plain colours, which aren’t the most flattering in my opinion. Dresses are around £130 and sweaters around £50, and they really honestly are nothing special. I never see that many people in there, but with prices like that, they would only need a few people to go in and get a whole outfit to make a tidy packet. Very expensive and not very exciting or inspirational.

If I’m on a shopping spree, the main reason that I’m drawn to a shop is the display in the window. I’m a sucker for anything glittery, kitsch, bold and funky looking, so Hobbs wasn’t exactly reaching out and grabbing me. To be fair, it isn’t really aimed at me. Hobbs is more for the working woman, selling plenty of power suits and shirts to keep you chic looking in the office. A pair of black trousers will set you back around £100 plus, which is baffling to me. The clothing is designer however, so that taken into account… nope, it still baffles me! Not limited to workwear, Hobbs also cater for the working woman’s weekend, with pretty dresses and some killer heels. I noticed a particularly pretty rose print, 100% silk dress, which would be lovely for a wedding, at £149. I would say the clothes in here would be fine for the lady over 30, although I suppose work wear is pretty universal, and would be acceptable for the wealthier 20 something’s with high flying jobs. This shop is located right in the heart of Buchanan Street, and you have probably walked past it loads of times. But unless you are 30+ with a few notes in the back pocket, then just keep walking.
