Hilton Glasgow

My review is of the Ocean Rooms Spa located inside of the Hilton Glasgow.
I booked a promotion they were offering of 30 minute treatments, 2 hours of facility use, and a cup of herbal tea for 35#s. I called the spa to book directly and the receptionist was friendly and accommodating.
Fast forward two days after trekking through one of the worst wind and rain storms to hit Glasgow in 2016 I finally made it to the reception desk. The attendant was friendly and welcoming. While I completed standard paperwork she gave me the tea included with my booking. This is where the positive part of my entire experience ends.
Once the paperwork was complete I handed it back to the attendant and she took me downstairs to the spa. She told me to take a seat and that someone would be with me momentarily. This was at 1:55PM, my one hour massage was scheduled for 2PM. At 2:05PM numerous massage therapists had walked past me but not one had acknowledged me. I was starting to get annoyed. At 2:10PM one finally asked me if there was something that they could assist me with. NOT a good sign. I replied, «Umm, yes. I have a one hour massage scheduled for 2PM.» She looked confused, and ran over to speak with one of her colleagues. After another 5 minutes they realized their mistake and told me it would be another 5 minutes before someone could take me back. Great.
By the time I got into the room (That someone had ALREADY been in! The table linen was a mess. She quickly straightened it after she walked me in! I should have left then.) it was 2:20PM. In my brain I assumed because it was their error and they took me back late that my back, neck and shoulder massage wouldn’t end until 3:20PM. Wrong again. After 40 minutes of her barely using any pressure (even though I requested firm), using the same repetitious motion of running her forearm up and down my back, not even touching my shoulders or neck, she turned the lights on and said it was done. (Keep in mind too — this to my surprise was a shared room, divided only by the world’s sheerest turquoise curtain. I could hear the massage and facial going on in the «room» next to me. I could also hear when the other massage therapist proceeded to karate chop her client’s back for a minute straight. Gross.) I questioned her and asked, «Wasn’t this supposed to be an aromatherapy massage, with hot stones, and also my neck and shoulders?» She responded, «Yes, but the time is up.» OK. To say I was furious was an understatement. She showed me around to the other areas of the spa that were included in my afternoon and I never saw her again.
Hoping that the experience would redeem itself when I used the hot tub, sauna, and steam room I was more than sadly mistaken once again. The locker room was atrocious. Dirty towels thrown everywhere, long, black hairs littered the floor and it smelled like something died. It made me gag the instant I walked in — this should have been the last straw but I kept going. With my suit on, I made my way out to the hot tub. It’s weird being in a pool /​hot tub area that is underground with absolutely no windows or natural light. I hated it and the smell was overwhelming chlorine. The place was packed and it made me feel claustrophobic. The hot tub was tiny — 4 people max. I tried that first and as soon as some stranger’s foot IN A SOCK touched me I was out. No thanks. I’m a 28 year old married lady that is NOT interested in playing footsie with you sir. (WHY are you wearing socks in a hot tub?!) Next stop, the sauna. There were two larger gentlemen in there having a conversation which I did my best to tune out. This was the most relaxing part of the entire experience. My last stop was the steam room. There was so much debris on the area that you sat I couldn’t stomach it, walking out instantaneously after walking in. Honestly, I felt like I was covered in other people’s filth and needed to get out of there ASAP.
As fast as humanly possible I put my regular clothes back on and made my way back up to the reception area. I requested to speak to the manager because that experience was complete crap. Amanda came to the reception area, barely made eye contact, and offered me to come back for the same experience with a different massage therapist. (How they can even be called that is a mystery to me. My husband and I can give better massages than that with zero training.) She said she’d email me the complimentary massage ASAP and sent me on my way. I’ve yet to receive her email and intend to dispute the charge with VISA and also send a letter to the GM of the Hilton. If that’s the normal experience they offer to guests, holy shit! How do they ever retain guests?!
Do yourself a favor and do not try the spa at the Hilton Glasgow.

Staff at the Hilton Glasgow are quite friendly.
During my stay I got to checkout two different types of rooms.
I found that the standard/​queen rooms were quite dated but the rooms were well maintained.
I was upgraded during my stay, to one of the executive rooms on the top floors (i believe the king rooms) which were much more modern, they cost more but seem to be smaller than what was being paid for the lower costing rooms which I found strange strange!
The hotel could do with modernising the showers also.
The one thing that stood out, is that the hotel seemed to know about our anniversary and left a nice gift in the room.

Spent the night here. Great location and nice room. Check in was at 3pm but my room wasn’t ready. They very kindly gave my wife and I a free drink at the bar. It took about an hour and they also then gave us free breakfast which was unexpected and very nice. It is great to see that when something was not as expected they go there extra mile to apologise. Even better they didn’t charge us for the car parking. Amazing!
The room was nice and to the Hilton standard. We only stayed the one night and as we were off to a party didn’t eat in the hotel. I will definitely stay here again though as the location can’t be beat and the service was excellent.

Got this on an itison deal and certainly wasn’t disappointed. Delightful lace, beautiful meal and excellent waiting staff. Thoroughly recommend it.

I stayed here for my 40^th birthday and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately I was very disappointed; not with the room, which was luxurious and comfortable, but with the service. The welcome at check in was non-​existent, and I didn’t find the staff at all helpful throughout my stay. I waited half an hour for a porter to help carry my stuff down at checkout– after two calls to reception my mum eventually came up to the 16^th floor to help me. Not exactly 5 star standard. I was also charged £15 for breakfast (which was very good) when it was supposed to have been included in my rate. No response when this was pointed out after my stay. Lovely rooms– which is why it’s not one star– but a disappointing experience.

Went to the Hilton for lunch today and the meal was gorgeous. We were seated at our table immediately and our drinks order was taken there after. The dining area was busy however the staff were attentive.
Each course was delicious. I started with the salmon mousse — the only comment was the two crackers served with the mousse was no where near enough to scoop the mousse up but I ain’t complaining. I had the duck leg to follow and my mouth is watering again at the mere thought of it again.
I opted for the chocolate tart for dessert which looked a lot like the chocolate tart you buy in Costa coffee.
I will definitely return… As soon as I can save my pennies

I have been here longer than a week with a large group. Beds are comfortable. Room service is 24 hours… not a full menu… but none the less 24 hours. Free breakfast buffet in the morning is good and consistent. But the hotel bar… let’s talk.
I could stand at the bar for 15 minutes before getting a drink. One might think that it’s because the bar is busy… but the deal is because the bar tenders are so wrapped in conversation, they do not pay attention to people who have just walked up. I expect that sort of service at a club or pub but not at a hotel bar… but that’s enough about that. I also didn’t like the strength of the drinks they made. All the alcohol seemed washed down too.
Other than that it’s a pretty standard Hilton Hotel. Nothing over the top and nothing at all like a motel. I would stay here again especially being around the corner from Bath Street where all the pubs and restaurants are. AND it is within a short distance to the SSE Hydro Arena.

Very nice after the recent facelift and good quality in Glasgow. One needs to have a certain amount of patience with the lifts at busy times and it may be worth taking a low floor to minimize this impact.
Rooms are good size and clean, nicely furnished and comfy beds
My personal wish is that the breakfast buffet hosts would just take room numbers and let guests seat themselves because there can be a long wait while a long line of single singers are shown to their seats.
That minor thing aside there is much to recommend this hotel and little to complain about.

Have been here a few times in the last few weeks with work events, so talking specifically from an event perspective…
This is a well-​oiled machine that excels at delivering events, both large and smaller scale. The service is pretty prompt and efficient (though I would note that some of the staff can be rather huffy — not so much in their manner directly towards clients, but just generally, and it is noticeable), the food, especially for catering for around 200 people, was excellent. No technical problems beset either event I attended, and both seemed very well put together and professional.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use them for work or perhaps for a birthday; however I would say that if you are potentially looking at this as a wedding venue, make sure you have a word with your co-​ordinator to make sure the staff are smiling all night!
Also, wholeheartedly agree with Andrew C. — if you’re staying here, do yourself a favour and go to Bön Accord for your tipple, or try Black Sparrow or Chinaskis, instead of throwing away money on watery ‘beer’!

Hmmmmmm what can I say about the Hilton. Not a lot to be honest. Was at a charity function there a couple of weeks ago… needless to say I was not impressed at all. Firstly there was supposed to be a champagne reception… you practically had to complete a 100 metre sprint to chase down the staff to get a glass. Secondly the meal was errrmmmm how would I put it… rank. Starter was leek and potato soup with a white truffle cream, which did taste nice (however the truffle cream looked as though a bird had pooed in it) the roast chicken main… there was nowt roasted about it. Dessert was baked alaska. In other words raw egg white with a blow torched top. (The waitress serving our table looked as though she had slept in her uniform for a week and hair was down and nearly touching my plate of food) Baring in mind this was £50 a head with 650 people attending. For a so called 5 star hotel I would have expected a bit more for the money. If it wasn’t for the company I was with the night would have been depressing. I would advise those considering booking the Hilton for a function to look elsewhere the only thing this hotel has going for it is its name only.

15.99 pounds per day for Wifi. 312 rooms, so that’s 174,610 pounds ($ 279,377), per year. I wonder what the profit margin is?
Otherwise one of the nicest Hotels in Glasgow and close to the Centre, SECC and Train station.

Stayed there for a night — booked through Hilton HHonors’ cash and points.
I was too tired to check the transportation options from Glasgow airport in advance (I flew in from Singapore and transferred at Heathrow in the same morning), so I just took a taxi and got there in 15 min or so.
The friendly Scotish front desk agent checked me in. The good news was my room was available in spite of the morning arrival (10:30am or so). The bad news was no upgrade was available which I was fine due to the short stay — it seemed they had some function and the hotel was in fact sold out. The public area/​lobby had comtemporary fresh look while my floor/​room décor could use facelift. When I was leaving the next day, I saw some folks started updating walls around the lift areas, they must’ve heard my inner whispering… :)
Their Executive Lounge is located on the 2^nd level — the same level as the lobby… by the way the lobby is not on the ground floor which is kinda consufing ;) The lounge was pretty large. They served nice food options for breakfast (incl. Scotish breakfast items, of course!) and variety of spreads with alcohol drink options for evening hours. I and my friend enjoyed beers with some appetizers before heading out to the city centre for dinner. I did not use the bar in the lobby, and we went out to local pubs in the city instead.
I used their swimming pool which is located on the level 1. When I went there (it was around lunchtime), the swimming pool area was filled with a bunch of housewives…
I talked to concierge for some questions. Unlike most of the hotels in London (where most of them are foreign employees) nowadays, they still have local folks working and they can answer your queries right away w/​o searching on the net or books about the area!
Later, I discovered the hotel was very close to one of the airport shuttle bus stops, and it was very quick to get to the airport (and much cheaper, of course).

Stayed here for 2 nights. Very large room with a comfortable mattress. A full breakfast including a full Scottish breakfast was included in our price: eggs, haggis, ham, sausage, fried tomatoes, beans mushrooms, etc. Also had a full fruit and yogurt selection, salad bar, breads, pastries, croissants. Very nice self-​serve coffee station with lattes, etc. The entrance looks rather oddly industrial due to its location near a highway. It’s only a 10 minute walk or so to some nice pubs such as the Drum and Monkey. They are making repairs to one elevator, which was the one negative aspect of our stay. In the morning as people were trying to check out etc. this proved inconvenient. We ended up taking the stairs along with others. Free wi-​fi in the lobby, with 4 computers available for those who haven’t brought a laptop. Nice complimentary toiletries, Philip Thomas Roth.

I was recently on a conference in the Scottish Exhibition and Conference center SECC and stayed in the Glasgow Hilton. It was quite convienient because Anderston Rail Station ist next to the Hilton from where the SECC or Glasgow Central can easily be reached. The Hotel is very close at M8 and the place is not very romantic. But downtown Glasgow with its shops and restaurants is well within walking distance.
The Hotel has a bar and a restaurant. I wasn’t there but it seems to have also a spa. The rooms are quite nice and all services are good. There is also a parking garage, a few shops and a hairdresser.
I enjoyed during the afternoons very much tea time in the executive lounge with scones, jam and clotted cream.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve stayed at the Glasgow Hilton — I stay because it’s in a convenient location for me. The staff are nice, the rooms are clean and the food is edible (most of the time). The décor is a little dated, and I wouldn’t stay here if I were you if you were after a view. You’re not paying for a view, just location — if you want a view, I stayed at the Crowne Plaza recently, which is outside the city centre and has a nice view.
The best thing about staying in a Hilton is that you know what to expect (a bit like McDonald’s really) — you get the same breakfast fare as any other Hilton (although, and I don’t know if this has changed recently, you used to get charged a full Scottish breakfast if you wanted porridge…). The room service menu is a little limited for my liking, and the a la carte restaurant is a little pricey. All in all, as a business hotel, it’s fine and I would continue to stay when I visit Glasgow.

I’ve stayed at the Hilton quite a few times before becoming a Unilocaler and although I have not stayed in any other hotels in Glasgow… I have not stayed in any other hotels in Glasgow. The rooms are large and lovely… and quiet. The breakfast is also large and lovely. They have a good gym that includes the most amazing part… a lap pool (much appreciated by this swimmer)! The staff is friendly and professional, and the hotel is well taken care of (minus the elevator sitch). It’s my home away from home when I am traveling for work.
To explain the elevator situation — the hotel has been «upgrading» their elevators for over a year now that they keep announcing with a banner they put next to the elevators in the lobby. And yet, there does not seem to have been any improvement in the sitch over the last year. So, when in a hurry… take the stairs… they’re quite lovely actually and who doesn’t need a little exercise to wake you up in the morning?
A few things to note:
— there is a parking structure under ground and adjacent to the hotel with easy access to the hotel, but you will have to pay an extra 10 quid per day (min)
— there is a nice bar in the hotel, which is very convenient, but a bit pricey (note below review)
— while the location is conveniently located close to the motorway, it is a 10 – 15 minute walk to City Center
— there is no wireless internet, but there is a cable in your room you can connect to
— they have black tie events on the weekends, so your chances of seeing a man in full Scottish regalia are strong
— Scottish people are the friendliest and nicest people I have met, so do be sure to hang out with a few… but don’t try to keep up with their drinking

This is a message. A message to anyone staying at this hotel.
Look outside. Before you venture into the hotel bar and pay 5 quid for pint of Tennents, just do me a favour and look outside.
There is a really great pub across the street — called the Bön Accord.
Just down the road is an amazing bar and grill called Chinaskis and some fantastic bars along Bath Street in the other direction.
Don’t get me started on the nearby Indian Restaurants.
So, walk out those Hotel doors and wander around. Despite the isolation you feel being in the Hilton in Glasgow, there is actually an amazing city and you have a great location to see some great bits of it.
You will thank me later.
The Hilton does do a nice Sunday buffet brunch though — I would probably stick around for that.

Great hotel — beautiful room… probably one of the best I’ve ever seen in the U.K. at any hotel.
The pricing was reasonable, although, it’s certainly a «business class» hotel.
The downfall of this hotel is that it is confusing for pedestrians. The Hilton is situated between an on-​ramp and an off-​ramp of the M8. Even though it is truly smack-​dab in the city centre, it’s a bit tricky to reach.
I found the quality of the hotel superb.

The Hilton is a lovely hotel in Edinburgh. It was £100 per room and I had heard before my visit that it boasts the best breakfast in Scotland! Everything is fresh and delicious, we were given fresh eggs. The rooms were lovely too — some floors have been refurbished, and so the higher up you are the better room you’ll get. My friends and I were a bit annoyed with the bar though, it was really understaffed and the queue was ridiculous. When we decided to go to our rooms and get an ice bucket, it was going to cost us £3.50! When we went back to the bar and ordered a drink it came fo £90 for the round, £43 of which was mixers! Ok there were 14 of us, but seriously!
I stayed here when Ross County were playing Dundee in the final (yeah, over my head too) and they were in the same hotel as us, as well as a few other celebs. Great for people-​spotting!

AS someone living in Glasgow, The Hilton isn’t a place that I would stay: a friend’s floor usually does the trick after a night out. But when my parents came to visit, I mischievously checked the Hilton out as a possible hotel. They said my floor would be fine.
However, I did get to have a look around the foyer, and was later invited to a formal meal (it was a charity event, if I remember, and I was there to report back). Unlike other fancy hotels, the food was not just expensive, it was mouth watering. I felt quite special, just being there, although I wish that I had worn a tie.

In November I attended an engineering dinner here, so got dressed up all nice like, and taxi-​ed my way here.
The lobby was very nice, though not as posh as I had expected. We made our way upstairs to the banqueting area and hobnobbed outside with glasses of champagne and fruit kebabs.
Dinner time! And it was delicious. Starting with trout, then lamb medallions and finishing with lemon tart, I enjoyed every bite. Everything was perfectly cooked and subtly flavoured, and if it wasn’t for my nerves (talking to potential employers) I would have totally enjoyed the whole experience.
Even the toilets were luxurious. In a better situation, say for a fancy dinner, this would be a great choice. The food is perfect and the service is first-​class!
