Service was a bit sloppy when I popped in for coffee and a bacon roll good prices so I will give it a second chance.

I’ve always stayed away from Greggs, thinking it was all about the Sausage Roll. However, having tried every other take away place in the G41 area somone suggested giving Greggs a go. I was pleasantly surprised. The selection of sandwiches was good. The fillings are quite sparse but the bread is nice and they are only around £1. The cakes are as you would expect from a Scottish bakers. Not where I’d go every day, but have certainly had a lot worse and paid a lot more in the immediate vicinity from independent deli/café type places. The staff is also friendly and super fast at serving — in and out, no fuss and all with a smile.

This is a typical Greggs: sandwiches in a variety of imaginative sounding but serviceable flavours, thick pastries, hot food that is all about the calories and not the taste, a long queue of school children at lunchtime. It’s better to miss this out and head further into Shawlands, where other, more homely, bakeries can satiate your sweet tooth, or check one of the delis for a hand made sandwich.
