I never give a full 5 stars because everything can be improved, and it would be extremely rare for me to give«full points» to any establishment. Frankie & Benny’s in Silverburn has improved over time. My girlfriend, and I frequent this place on a fairly regular basis — when we have the cash. The staff are friendly, the place is clean, and even the booths are comfortable enough to fit me, and the ever growing bump my girlfriend has going on at the moment. I should add that the staff on both floor are friendly, and helpful. However, there are staff members on both floors who can be quite easily confused, or forgetful. However, there are also members of staff who are so completely, and utterly on the ball it’s scary! I do like this place, and hope you guys can give them a go.

I’m here to defend Frankie & Benny’s after it’s had some low starred reviews. Ian and I ended up going there after a wee bit of shopping in Silverburn. We were going out later on for a cheeky wee unofficial Unilocal night out so wanted to make sure we were fed and watered before we headed out. We went in via the outside entrance and we were greeted by a young girl member of staff. The place wasn’t too busy for a Saturday evening and she offered whether we wanted to sit up or downstairs. We didn’t even know there was an upstairs, so we decided up it was. Jings there was many many many stairs to get there but hey, one way to work up an appetite I suppose. We were greeted by another young girl member of staff and she looked on her touch screen computer for seats for us, she tried to get us window ones but they were reserved. No worries, we weren’t wanting to stay to long anyway so not too bothered. We were seated with menus and a big tall foreign young man took our drink orders. He was very friendly, in a decent way of course, we did struggle to understand his accent especially when we eventually figured out he was asking if we wanted a side dish. You know when it gets to the fourth time of asking, it gets embarassing that you still can’t understand. He eventually put it another way and we got it. Ahhhh says we, ‘sides’ eh no thanks. Fortunately he wasn’t too bothered and he was happy and jokey with us. We both ordered pasta dishes, experiencing that New York Italian style, well as Italian as you can get, with old fashioned music to put you in the mood. The chef’s were just behind us, chefing away. I ordered cannelloni and Ian got the Philly steak bake and our waiter was very generous with the parmesan especially when Ian said to him I love the cheese. Oooft that was vigorous grating. Yum! We didn’t have to wait long, service was spot on and we were in, fed, watered and out in 20 minutes. Bang on and me’s a happy customer!

Why People Why? Italians have been coming to Glasgow for centuries. Bringing the Italian cooking tradition to the Scottish shores. They modified it to suit the Scottish taste and created beautiful local cafes to cater to emigrants and natives alike. Frankie and Bennys is not this. It is a corporate creation which has the exact same décor in every singe bloody iteration of this fake Italian eaterie. At this point — I would bring out McDonalds, to beat them about the head and shoulders with the similarities. But McDonalds is honest. They don’t start to bring out their Irish Heritage to sell Bacon and Cabbage burgers. Frankie and Bennys is as Italian as Pizza Hut. Except they insult folks of Italian heritage with bad photos of guys stuffing large amounts of pasta in their mouth. This town has Italians serving lovely Scottish-Italian meals in local cafes for folks for decades. Coia Café anyone? Run away from F&B’s and get yourself into these real Italian eateries and enjoy. As stated before — this is Italian type food, modelled by a European corporation, plated in a centralised food production facilty and then reheated by Poles. If this is the dining experience you are after — this is the place for you. «Hey honey, lets go out for a reheated plate experience»

i have had mixed experiences here, sometimes good but sometimes really bad. the last time i went my chips tasted like fish, obviously cooked in the same fryer, which is not a good thing. i doubt that i will go back.

Not your usual theme restaurant here, Been a few times and the menu is fantastic, good selection of pasta, pizza, burgers, and they also do brunch and lunch menu’s. The service we got while in was excellent, the waitress was helpful and had a good bit of banter when asked about different dishes, telling us honestly what her fav. was!(manhattan burger)! All in, I would heartilly recommend this restaurant for a quiet meal, or a bigger party of friends for a pre-night out meal! Excellent.
