FHQ isn’t just my favourite gay club in Glasgow, it’s one of my favourite clubs full stop!
FHQ is unlike any other gay venue in Scotland. It is a females only gay club and men are only allowed in as the guest of a female. The décor is disgustingly stylish and oozes feminine sophistication. It’s all wooden floors, leather booths and amazing wall art.
As well as being a club with space for dancing there is also a great bar area which serves food and there are pool tables dotted around. It is a very relaxed and modern atmosphere and not at all camp and cheesy like male focused gay venues tend to be.
There are some great drinks promotions as well as long standing offers such as yummy girly cocktails for £3. There is something different on every night as well from quiz’s to open mic nights to sports shown on the big tv screens. The most popular night though is Friday night Lip Service. There are all sorts going on at Lip Service from face painting, dressing up boxes, a sexual post box and spin the bottle! All going on to a back ground of some of the best female DJs around spinning some great tunes.
Overall I think Glasgow has been missing a place like FHQ and I’m glad to see that they have executed the whole female gay club/​bar thing very well.
