Specialties
We offer quality adult classes in a wide range of styles, from Flamenco to Bollywood, Tango to Breakin and more! For kids we have street and breakin classes. You can see our full timetable on our website.
We have mirrored studios with sprung floors and an in-house café (La Bodega Tapas Bar) where people socialise before and after classes and where we hold showcases and cabaret nights. You can get as involved as you want from simply attending classes to taking part in shows. Always great fun & great for boosting confidence. It’s a whole experience.
We have a great atmosphere in our classes — we believe people learn more easily if it’s fun and relaxed and it’s important to learn at your own pace. We try to offer a style to suit everyone and it’s never too late to start.
History
Established in 1984.
DWA was founded by Karen Pasi running classes from various venues in addition to teaching dance in Schools, Colleges & Universities.
The dream always was to have a dedicated dance space with mirrors and sprung floors and after many years of searching for the right property, the Studios in South Street were finally opened. We got the keys on Christmas Eve 2003 and after a lot of hard work and help from our friends we started the first classes in April 2004.
Now we have a full timetable of classes and a dedicated team of talented teachers.
In 2008, with her partner Alexis Alonso Leyva the café, La Bodega Tapas Bar was opened — designed to help fund the studios and to develop the building further. The café has taken on a life of its own, well known for it’s delicious food as well as great live music, performances & dance nights.
It is still a work in progress but very much a labour of love, with a 3rd space still to develop as another studio and upgrading of facilities.
