Breaking Create Café news: the Nespresso Machines have left the building. I repeat, they’ve left the building. If you’ve read the other reviews of Create Café, you’ll know they did have Nespresso machines on each table which some people loved and some people didn’t. Well I popped in for a visit today and all the machines were piled up in the corner to be taken away — so the machines are no more. Instead, they’re doing manual espresso coffee from Monday 22 February. So get excited, people. I wasn’t actually having coffee, but was in for a quick lunch. They have ready made selections(mostly bread-based like sandwiches, panini) but I went for the soup of the day — tomato and basil for a ridiculous price of £2.50. Who charges that price for an eat-in soup?! Madness! It was served with a side of bread(which I’m no longer allowed to eat, RIP gluten in my belly) and was really good. Impressive for the price and the reason this place is 4 stars rather than 3, as there wasn’t much else that I was really wow-ed about here. That being said, I would definitely go back and it was super handy for the meeting I was having. If you’re lucky, you might get a parking spot along Finnieston Street, or you can park on nearby Argyle St and walk down. Just resist the lure of veering into Maccas for a cheeseburger. If I can do it, so can you.

It’s weird ain’t it? A place that serves Nespresso coffee? Like why? How is it possible that this place is surviving? My Italian family in Italy are all scoffing at this idea as we speak about it I’m sure. BUT surprisingly, it’s not too shabby. Went over yesterday after a long day of walking under the sun! I thought to myself, best not to judge a place before trying it right? Enter with an open mind(lol). The moment you enter, you see a rather huge space, that lets in tons of bright natural light and has a martian spaceship at each table in front of you(aka Nespresso machines). The space is great! Spacious and airy. I did not choose the option of making my own coffee because I don’t go to a café to make my own drink, I prefer to be served(like a queen). So I ordered a hazelnut latte from the woman behind the counter(all coffee at the counter are regularly priced) and grabbed a seat directly under the sun. Niiiiiice! Ok so I noticed that even the big fancy coffee machine behind the counter was a Nespresso one so you really don’t need much barista skills to serve coffee here. It’s quite hard to mess up when everything is automatic. Just press the right buttons! My coffee was good, just like every other Nespresso coffee I’ve ever had, it’s usually nice. But you lose the essence of a cuppa being handmade because let’s face it, Nespresso was invented for the house, for families who love coffee, it’s not for a café. That’s kinda cheating, at least, that’s how I felt. But regardless it was nice! You even get free fast wifi and I suppose, if you weren’t using the machine at your table, you could steal the plug point for your laptop when you’re working on-the-go! So in conclusion, I was split between a 3 star and a 4, but to be perfectly honest, there’s nothing wrong with this café. It’s actually pretty good. Perhaps it depends on your preference whether or not you actually like the gimmick of the Nespresso machine! I don’t care for it very much but I can’t complain either. (I read that they might switch the Nespresso machine behind the counter to a manual one soon so we can see how that goes!) Go try it and judge for yourself! :)

Wonderful visit — can’t believe their daily deal of coffee + croissant for £2. Friendly service and decent coffee. Will be back again — maybe I’ll stay for the wifi next time.

Lovely, bright, airy café with lots of space and good coffee at a fair price. They only do one size, which surprised me, and that size isn’t huge but it did happen to be exactly what I wanted. I was surprised to be the only customer there when I arrived and only two others showed up in the ~30 minutes I was there, but it was fairly early on a Wednesday morning so perhaps they get more people in later on. Anyway, the staff were very happy to help and were quite efficient. I didn’t eat, but they have an offer for a coffee and a croissant for only £1.99 so I might be tempted next time. Their sandwiches look nice too, it looks like they prepare them fresh on site each day. As an odd addition, each table has a Nesepresso coffee machine so, if you prefer, you can make your own Nespresso coffee for only £1.50. I’m not sure it’s something I’d do normally, but maybe if I were working here and taking advantage of the free WiFi I might try it out.

A quick visit today for an early lunch. This place is an odd one like who ever thought someone would go to a coffee shop or eatery and have the option of making their own coffee? I’m sure if anyone wanted to do this they would carry on walking home and do it there. The food options here are limited to really just soup and sandwiches & packet biscuits and cakes. I had the toasted chicken & cheese sandwich, it was fine but very bland. I’m sure others may find this a good option to eat at, but it hasn’t got the attraction for me to want to go back to, it’s just too boring when you have better choice & character up the street.

«A fresh, funky and alternative café in Finnieston, that is well worth a visit.» I pick up my morning coffee every day from Create Café Finnieston since it opened. I would thoroughly recommend it for a sit-in or take-a-way refreshment. I also go there for lunch regularly, mainly because the food is of good quality, the wifi is good and I find the environment restful just being able to get away from the desk and the Skypark environment. The daily specials are particularly good, usually very wholesome, organic and freshly prepared with evidence of a «Mediterranean» influence. This is thanks to the mixed European staff. All the Soup and Sandwiches are also freshly prepared with usually a choice of homemade soups. These are of far better quality and variety than anything else I’ve tasted locally to suit a range of tastes. Overall it is a welcome addition to the café and lunch choices in this area. The coffee is great, made to how you like it. You can’t compare it with the likes of McD’s or other outlets as you get to choose the strength and flavour of the brew you would like. This is the only café in Glasgow, perhaps even Scotland with Nespresso’s biggest and fastest coffee machine. As to earlier negative comments of one customers experience, the original manager who allegedly made these remarks no longer works there. I have always found all the staff very welcoming and polite so don’t judge the outlet by those comments, make your own judgement and support the increased choice available for the ever increasing workforce and passing trade in this area.

Bright modern café, excellent café latte, great croissants and friendly staff. Perfect place for breakfast or lunch.
