If you ask me, there are not enough places which cater for the«bugger it, I’ll just have a roll and chips» market. Café India Express is not one of those places. While quite reasonably I assumed, given the name, this place would be proprietors of Indian cuisine, the sign on the counter displayed«Roll And Chips, 90p». I’m afraid there’s only going to be one winner when all I require is a quick bite to eat. Despite the fairly ramshackle appearance of the outfit, my girlfriend described her vegetarian curry as «fine» and suffered no ill-effects. Meanwhile my roll and chips was equally fine. A three joint all round.

Found in the East Kilbride Shopping Centre ground floor food court, this counter offers great deals on Indian food — such as a portion of vegetable pakora(served up on a plastic plate with a section for onions and another for dip) for only £1.30 — enough to fill you up for lunch. There are of course bigger and only slighltly more expensive meal deals. Sadly, the staff aren’t exactly overly friendly and the food court is so cheap looking(multi-coloured plastic seats et al) but if you can see past all that this place is one of the cheapest you’ll get for a speedy lunch. I like to nibble my pakora whilst watching the ice-skating on the adjacent ice rink and pretending I’m somewhere magical. It almost works.
