One of the larger B&Q stores, this one has an upstairs mezzanine area where they sell more white goods and home furnishing stuff. However they didn’t have the two little wall bracket fixings that I was particularly after on this occasion. Nil Points.

I hate DIY. Mainly because I’m rubbish at it, but I also find it very boring. This means a diy store like this one is rarely going to get a good rating. When I am here, I am generally trying to fix something that is broken or do some kind of decorating. Either way, I ain’t Gonna be happy. The stand out thing about this store for me, is its huge! It probably has most stuff that it’s meant to, but I find it very badly laid out. You can wander for ages in bathroom fitting hell, when really you just want a bloody new screwdriver. I don’t like it much, but I guess in the main it does what you need it to do. Just perhaps ask for a map and Walkie talkies when you enter, so that you don’t get lost!

It is nothing special, spread across 2 levels the ground floor has the gardening, paint, bathrooms, flooring and kitchens, tools and wood and building supplies. Upstairs is the soft furnishings storage and lighting. There seems to be lots of empty space on shelves, and the staff are worse than useless. All in all I wouldn’t bother if you don’t have too visit there are far better and cheaper places in the local area to get the supplies you need but they cover everything under one roof. The Staff could really do with some customer service training and maybe be more aware when someone asks them a questions and not just walk off.

B&Q is the place you head for when you’re looking to decorate your house, with absolutely everything you need including paint, plaster and plants. This place is absolutely massive with a great selection of stock, although it’s often difficult to find a member of staff when you need some assistance. B&Q is famous for employing the older generation, however these are often the best people to ask if you need advice on home improvement, as they tend to be ex-tradespersons that know a lot about the products and can advise on the best items for your purpose.
