Owned by the same person as Bencotto but the food is to a much higher standard. Its worth the money and the menu is also very diverse and can cater for coeliacs

We popped into the downstairs café-bar for a spot of lunch whilst running errands in felixstowe. The atmosphere was really good(for a dreary monday lunch.) and the place was really clean and well looked after. Had a couple of beers and ham, egg and chips each for lunch. Food was excellent, chunky hand cut ham, thick and chunky chips. Cookies and ice cream for dessert! The food and service were first class. Absolutely fantastic all round. The only slight fly in the ointment was the unpleasent odour in the gents. but then it is a toilet after all! Prices are not cheap, but certainly not expensive either. Highly reccomended.

The Alex is THE bar on Felixstowe seafront. With its formal restaurant upstairs, its casual bar downstairs and its large outdoor seating area it caters for various groups. Its main target audience is 30 – 70 year olds. The menus differ for upstairs and downstairs, the latter being able to fit on an A4 Sheet and serving simple but tasty food such as fish and chips, sausage and mash, Aubergine burgers and sandwiches. The upstairs is a much richer affair with lamb shanks, salmon and game. The location is what really sells it situated right on the sea front it boasts stunning views of the ocean, the beach and the pier. The staff are extremely friendly and have chatted about their recipes, beer and wine selection with me on various occasions. They have a huge selection of beers and wines and the atmosphere is always bustling as the insides are usually busy after 7pm, the outdoor area is heated so there are both smokers and dog walkers lining the front giving the bar a busy yet fun feel. The only downside is that when the sun comes out, the road is often circled by youngsters in cars as if they are doing a lap of honor. Of the whole, the bar is excellent any time of year, sunny summer or cold and rainy winter.

A café/restaurant with the best of both worlds. The more relaxed dinners can enjoy the inside and outdoor seating with a nice standard café menu with killer beef burgers :) The location is ideal for those lovely Sunday afternoons with the option to walk down the seafront after your meal. The upstairs restaurant is exactly what it is compared to the café. a step up. A bit more clam, with dedicated waiters to tables and a more sophisticated menu. The antipasti starter for two is amazing although it sounds expensive(£12) is was well worth it with big portions The baked cod for mains was my favourite. Overlooking the ocean makes you feel like you are in a foreign country.

The Alex is a great café on beach road overlooking the sea, in Felixstowe. Parking is a black art in Felixstowe, especially when the weather is warm, but the café benefits from both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is good standard café-style fayre and it is possible to even ask for a few things that might not be on the menu(such as bacon sandwiches). The chocolate milkshake isn’t bad either — my only complaint is that it is a bit small! The café also gets a tick for being dog friendly(for those seated outside). There are bowls of water laid out for our four-legged friends.
