We found Elisabeth James Antiques through a web search and were quite impressed by their apparent inventory. We purchased a 10 foot oak, Victorian extending table for just over 4,000 pounds. Chris was very professional through the sales process. Unfortunately the extension mechanism was broken. The table collapsed during our first dinner party. This was not only embarrassing, but very inconvenient. Again Chris was very polite, apologizing and agreeing to cover the cost of the repair. The craftsman and price was confirmed in advance. When the work was done, 300 pounds expense, we forwarded the invoice. At that point he began making up excuses about why he couldn’t transfer the funds. Unfortunately, he will no longer take our call, nor was the repair invoice every paid. If you are going to trade with him make sure you know what you are buying. Do not buy over the internet. Do not assume what he is selling is in working condition. Buyer beware.
