At last I managed to make it along to The Ugly Duckling Shop in Morningside. It’s a lovely little shabby chic/​vintage shop which opened recently. As I just moved to a new flat I am constantly on the hunt for furniture and bits and pieces and The Ugly Ducking was the perfect spot to check out upcycled furniture as well as crockery, accessories and some beautiful jewellery. Ruth, the owner, has a workshop downstairs where she works on the furniture she sources. If you ask nicely she will even offer to look out for a particular item for you.
If you’re passing by, pop in and have a browse and a chat with Ruth — you’re bound to spot a little something for a birthday gift or a treat for yourself.
