The Radisson Sas Hotel Edinburgh

Mainly i Chose this hotel due its location and i was not disappointed as it was very central and right on the royal mile and only 5 minutes from the castle. And considering that our stay was at start of Dec and the hotel was fully booked we got an excellent deal.
The main disappointment was that the room was very dark in fact it was uncomfortable and made it difficult to get ready in the morinings.
The restaurant for breakfast was full and people were being seated in an over flow function room and service was slow.
service was also slow in the bar however this was a very nice setting for an evening drink.
The hotel has an indoor pool which was a nice touch and a gym although it was very dated and needs some serious ungrading.
Although i was pleased with my stay there is so much choice in Edinburgh that next time i may choose some where else.

Die Zimmer sind bis auf einige Spuren der Abnutzung ganz gemütlich und modern eingerichtet. Jedoch sind die Fenster nicht gut gedämmt und die Geräusche von der Straße werden nicht sehr gut abgehalten. Im Treppenhaus zur Tiefgarage roch es nach Urin. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut gewesen. Die Lage des Hotels ist für mich der Hauptgrund das Hotel zu wählen, da es mitten in der Stadt liegt. Preis-​/​Leistungsverhältnis stimmt hier nicht ganz.

Our first stay and I have to agree with the last reviewer, although not to the same extent. Our check-​in and, therefore, arrival was marred by the staff’s inability to crowd control. We were queue jumped quite blatantly. The staff did nothing to correct the matter so we intervened and were rudely informed by some Irish ladies that they had just run a half marathon. Well, we’d just travelled 600 miles using Ryan Air, if we’re competing for stress. The receptionist apologised when she finally served us, but she should have intervened on our behalf. Our room was fine, spacious and well appointed and we liked the free internet. I think that the corridors should be cleared of customer debris each day and room service plates, half filled baby bottles etc, not left for days. I would possibly stay again if there was a deal but I’d check around first.

I used to be very very fond of this hotel, having stayed there about ten times or so. It’s got a great location — slap-​bang on the Royal Mile, it’s a beautiful building, the rooms are (mostly) very nice but this credit crunch is a terrible thing and obviously cost-​cutting has forced the hotel to make enormous savings on the staff front. As a result, everything involving people, (i. e everything) has now become absolute torture. Staff who can’t speak the language, staff who obviosly don’t won’t to be there, who hold a grudge, or whateversimply everybody seems to want to do their utmost to spoil your stay, make life difficult, display a generally hostile attitude, and ooze a feel-​bad factor. I won’t be staying there again, holidays are too precious to have them spoilt by people who’re obviously unhappy with their situation.

I’ve never stayed here but I’ve been here many times through work. We hold training courses here and the central location with parking is very popular with the delegates. Food is good here but when it comes to snacks with tea and coffee, its very hit or miss. Sometimes its lovely homebaking but sometimes its the usual bog standard biscuits in noisy packets. The Great Scots Hall is the most fancy function suite. It has a slate floor and large feature fire place. However its very cold in the winter and in the hight of the festival the busking pipers and music from the tartan tat shops make it hard to here a speaker. I’m sure if you were dancing at a wedding you wouldn’t be too troubled. The building is lovely to look at and you wouldn’t know it was only built in the 80’s unless you look closely at the plaque outside. There are always taxis outside if you need one.

The Radisson is located perfectly on the Royal Mile, inbetween Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace. It is a lovely building to look at from the outside and is in keeping with the history of Edinburgh.
The hotel is quite expensive, however has all the luxuries. There is a pleasant bar and café called Itchycoo which offers a tapas-​style menu.
As a guest you have complimentary access to the Leisure Club with swimming pool and gym. You can also book wellness treatments such as massages and facials.
