We stock the finest diamonds in the city, all hand picked by our 5^th generation owner Michael Laing OBE. These are then mounted into our bespoke designs in our own workshops and sit pride of place alongside some of the world’s most sought after jewellery brands including Hearts On Fire, Mikimoto, Chopard and Marco Bicego.

We are specialists in luxury Swiss watches, home to brands including Rolex, Omega, Longines and TAG Heuer. We are proud to be exclusive stockists in Edinburgh for Jaeger-​LeCoultre, Cartier, Chopard and Breitling.

We have our own designer, jewellery workshops and a specialist watch maker, allowing us to provide a full service to all our customers in-​house.

Meet the Business Owner

Michael L.

Business Owner

As owner of Scotland’s oldest family jeweller Michael Laing travels the world tapping into inspiration from across the continents. Michael is a Designer and Gemmologist and has created many important commissions including the 1986 Commonwealth baton.

For over 20 years, he has served on the National Association of Goldsmiths’ Education Committee in London. Latterly, he has been its Chairman, overseeing jewellery-​trade training in the UK. He has been a Fellow of the Gemmological Association since 1973.

He was also Chairman of the Assay Office Scotland, which tests and hallmarks gold, silver and platinum, the oldest form of consumer protection in the world. Indeed, it was for his services to hallmarking that he received his OBE.

Michael has been at LAING since 1971 and is totally committed to what he calls «pursuit of excellence.» He is an expert Gemmologist and handpicks every one of of our diamonds using knowledge passed down through the generations.
