I took my car to Keith Elgin and was charged over the odds for an inspection (½ hour’s inspection was £33), and the car was diagnosed with over £600 of repairs. I wasn’t convinced and took it to another garage, recommended by a friend, who did all the work diagnosed by Keith Elgin (and changed the gearbox fluid — this is over and above what Keith Elgin were going to do) for a grand total of £240.
That is £400 less than Keith Elgin quoted.
It doesn’t take a genius to see what is going on. I can understand a slight premium for good customer service but £400 is taking the piss.
Avoid them if you like keeping your money in your pocket.
