Cute, cheerful and good service. Popped in here today while out to grab a flat white before embarking on a new adventure(yes, December Princes Street counts as an adventure! I’d say it’s like battling three dragons at once…) I had intended heading to Nero but found the bright window complete with Christmas tree decorated with espresso cups too adorable to pass by! In I popped and was greeted by lovely staff who served me ASAP and did so with a smile. The coffee was delicious! After my brief visit I think I’ll be back to try the food as it looked delicious!

Stumbled upon this place a week ago, I was in dire need of a coffee and felt a well deserved piece of cake was in order(just had my nails done, needed to reward myself for sitting still all that time!) Oh. My. Gosh. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. I’m always so apprehensive about cake, its either going to blow my mind or I’ll sit and stew for the next month about the waste of calories consumed over a crappy piece of cake that did not deserve my attention. It’s a risk every time. But WOW. I had ordered myself a latte and slice of lemon polenta cake and I have to say, it was one of the best things I had ever tasted. It’s tart, sweet, fluffy, dense, and goes down oh so well with a large coffee. The cream cheese frosting baalnced the rest of the cake and I just wanted to sit all day with an endless supply of this cake and people watch. If you’re out and about old town, or even right in the city centre, make the effort to walk over and give this place a go– you will not be disappointed. Prices are cheap for what you’d pay anywhere(£.160 for a hot breakfast roll) and the cake is ah-mazing!

What a pleasant surprise we encountered last Saturday when we decided to try, first in the Unilocal community, this charming new-ish place(opened August 2014 apparently!). It’s quite possible that this place is a family business, making it even more appealing to me, away from the mainstream places. During the week I noticed even a queue for take away coffee which means this place must have good reputation! There is a selection of cold drinks in the fridge for you to pick up, some cold sandwiches, the typical coffee choices(my long white was great), teas, cakes, scones etc. We really liked the interior design as you can see from the pics. So on Saturday we decided to try their brunch, which is rather short: scrambled eggs on their own, or with bacon or salmon or black pudding as well. We tried the bacon and the salmon choices and we were astonished!!! Personally these were the tastiest eggs I’ve had in Edinburgh and the best toasted bread!(Organic maybe?) There are also some other sandwiches available in the menu, maybe something for the next time! Also a loyalty card for the savvy customer! I will certainly go back for more!!! :-) Keep up the good work guys!
