History

Established in 2006.

Andrew May has been providing a high quality repair service to musicians across Scotland and further afield since 2006.

Customers include local music teachers, their students, amateur players and members of all of Scotland’s top orchestras.

With a focus on quality, and an awareness of the demands made by professional musicians, all major repairs are booked in to a diary to ensure that the musician is without their instruments for the shortest time possible and at a time that is convenient to them. Though emergency work is always fitted in, much of returned the same day!

Having completed his first degree at Edinburgh University, Andrew May studied for an HND in Wind Instrument Repair at Stevenson College, Edinburgh, graduating in 1998.

He continued his training whilst working in the busy workshop at John Packer Ltd in Taunton, Somerset before returning to Edinburgh late in 2000.

After five years as Double Reed Specialist at a large Edinburgh music shop, he established his own business in 2006. Now in his fourth year as an independent he has moved to larger premises in Tollcross.

Andrew also plays the Bassoon with Stockbridge & Newtown Community Orchestra and is a regular at the S.C.O.‘s Scrapers & Tooters weekends. He can be found playing the Bass Clarinet and Bodhrán in various folk sessions around Edinburgh and teaches Bodhrán for the Scots Music Group.
