History
Established in 1935.
Circa 1935 — Knight & Son Opticians– The practice was established by Montague Knight and his brother as a branch practice to their main site of Knight & Son in Northampton. It was originally located in 25 High Street, Daventry.
1939 – 1945 — While Monty was servicing in the Navy, the Daventry practice was run by his father Leslie Knight, conducting eye examinations on half a day a week.
1946 — Monty Knight returned to Daventry practice after the War.
Since then, the practice has had a handful of partners and name changes, the most recent being in 2013 when Vincent Proctor retired and Claire Anstee continued the business under the name Anstee & Proctor Opticians.
Despite the changes, all partners have always had the same Ethos, to provide outstanding optical care to local people.
Meet the Business Owner
Claire A.
Business Owner
I qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 1987 then as a Specialist contact lens practitioner in 1991. I have worked in many practices including large High street multiples, but I most enjoy working in independent practice, where you have time to spend with the client, fully understanding their needs and ensuring that the best solution is offered to them.
I became a partner at this practice in 2001 when it was known as WPS Optometrists, since then, we have grown establishing ourselves as the best independent Opticians in Daventry. Vincent retired at the end of 2012 and I am now the sole owner with a fantastic team of professionals and support staff.
I hope to continue to grow and develop the business over the next few years in a challenging environment, by keeping abreast of the latest fashions and developments in technology, so that we can continue to provide outstanding eyecare.
