Good little pub with a great outdoor area for drinks in the sun, that’s right, the sun does frequent Croydon you know! The food is delicious and reasonably priced and if doesn’t take long before you start to feel like a regular.

Their website says they serve Sunday brunch/breakfast. They do not. Ended up there anyway on a Sunday mid-day. Paid £12 for a burger and chips that was OK, but not any where near good enough to justify the price tag. Slow service from an unfriendly waitress. Suffice to say, no plans to return.

It’s a pub. But the food is pretty good nonetheless. And they do serve cider. My fig, Stilton, and fennel salad was excellent. My lamb chump was a bit tough but still tasty. And my white chocolate panna cotta on rhubarb purée was very good. Warning! Aubergines is eggplants!

Great food at reasonable price, nice surroundings and some good meantime ales available. Definitely worth checking out after work.

Impressed on three levels here. Firstly, great use of one of those cavernous old London boozers. Large bar and dining on the ground floor with charming beer garden and a club above. Secondly, the crazy, groovy décor: Fairy lights to the ceiling, open kitchen, a firplace that was pure, mad Gaudi and furniture of a style you’d eventually whittle up if stranded on a desert island for long enough. South Sea island tiki-casual anyone? Thirdly, gastro pub food of quality & taste for 20 quid with drinks? Great! I’ve paid double for similar before elsewhere… they do a week-night meal deal that’s great value. They even seemed to be sourcing regional ingredients… A lovely place & a definate recommendation.

The Tree House is actually in South Croydon and is not marked correctly on the map. It is on a stretch of road lined with other alluring restaurants but the tree house offers something slightly different with its wooden rustic feel, twinkly lights, bric-a-brak fireplace feature and bright garden. The food on the chalkboard menu is also absolutely delicious and with a £10 for a starter and a main offer from Mon Thurs it is a great weekday treat. There is a good, exiting range of choices including interesting vegetarian options. The service is also efficient and cheery. The main reason I visit over and over again though is because the want for my next fix of Sticky Choccy Pudding never leaves me. I go back and devour my warm, hulking brown square, thinking I can get it out of my system but the next day it is still the only thing I want for dinner. I tried to make my own version at home and it was nice, but never the same! The Tree House is a top notch regular dinner haunt, definitely worth a visit.

The Treehouse serves several different purposes: foodie destination for Sunday lunches or romantic dinners in the week, haunt for smokers who like the big bamboo-roofed garden, and, in the bar upstairs, a late-night venue for those of us too old to venture into central Croydon after dark. Can you be all things to all people? The Treehouse is doing a pretty good job. In previous incarnations it was a rather scary, dark pub, but has now turned all that around and is a fairy-light-bedecked beacon announcing the start of the lively stretch of the main road through South Croydon — in stark contrast to the Swan and Sugarloaf on the opposite junction, which retains the dark and scary aspect. Slightly odd lumpen furniture that looks like it’s made of driftwood, but that aside, pretty good.

This place is fantastic, and I’ve only visited it a few times on Sunday. They do a wonderful hot chocolate, full of marshmallows and such. they have all the sunday papers and you can really relax and stretch out. There’s a coal fire and fairy lights everywhere, if I remember correctly they were even in the loo. There is a separate nightclub on the top floor which is always getting good reviews from places. Basically this is the trendy bit of Croydon, plenty of good restaurants round here. And the food in the treehouse is pretty good too. In fact I’m going to go here first chance i get.

The mix of rustic with fairy lights and candles sounds a strange one, but it really works in here. It’s a cool place with great food which matches the atmosphere. I recently booked a table for myself and 5 girlfriends. It was a great place for a reunion — as there was music, but not so loud that we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. Our food all looked and tasted great — I chose the duck which there was plenty cooked well and tasted delicious. However a friend had the tuna — she was a little disappointed as she prefers her tuna virtually raw and she wasn’t asked how she wanted it cooked. We had a fabulous evening — no complaints and we were happy to pay the bill, which was reasonable considering what we ate and drank during the evening.
