Three Bridges Railway Station

A small yet fairly busy station with excellent links to London and Brighton from West Sussex. I frequently use this station and have found the staff friendly and helpful, the coffee shops and stands efficient and the accessibility to platforms absolutely fine. After rush hour all the ticket barriers are opened in order for easy access out of the station to the consistently long line of taxis waiting outside. There’s a small pick-​up area that ideally needs to be bigger as there never seems to be enough room for all the cars wishing to wait. My only suggestion is for a waiting area for people waiting to be picked up by taxis or family and friends as there’s not a lot of inside space and it gets very cold waiting outside. I have had a couple of experiences waiting in the entrance for a pick up and had young males on bikes riding through the station for fun and bumping into me. It would be nice to have a safe, warm place to wait. Three Bridges also has plenty of bike racks, two cash points outside and a large pub and bus stops across the road that go to Crawley and East Grinstead.

Frustrating station to use, in this case the train I was on got cancelled and then we had to wait here, there are not nearly enough seats. There needs to be better announcements about non-​stopping trains too as there were a couple of people (too close to the edge of the platform) who were in danger. Possibly would also help to tell people what to do, rather than expect them to find an alternative route on their own.

Excellent transport links to London. Have places to get food and drinks aswell

There’s been a bit of investment at Three Bridges station recently — the ticket hall has been enclosed with big glass automatic doors — its now possible to use it as a waiting room at quiet times of the day, when the platforms are otherwise more or less deserted.
There are huge bike racks, and a fair sized car park. But there’s still quite a bit of renovation work going on, and pick up/​drop off can be a real problem.
The station gives fast access to London and to the south coast; Crawley and Gatwick Airport are very nearby — hop on a train for two minutes to get to Crawley Mall.
Most local buses and coaches to local towns pass by, and they’re well mapped out, its fairly easy to find out where you need to go.
