Scriven & Thornton

This friendly butcher’s shop knows a thing or two about customer service. They also know a lot about meat. It is very swish, with sliding doors, marble floors and big screen TVs behind the counters.
Don’t worry though; the staff are true Cradley Heathens — warm, friendly and down to earth. They jokingly tease me for being «a bit posh for around here», which is quite the compliment for a girl from Coseley.
The fresh and locally reared meat is excellent quality, I’m a big fan of their smoked streaky bacon. They will happily order in more obscure cuts if you ask in advance. The best thing about Scriven and Thornton’s has to be the deli counter. It is piled high with all sorts of cooked meats, pies, cheeses and Scotch eggs. They also serve the most incredible hot pork sandwiches — complete with crackling, applesauce and bread dipped in gravy. Understandably, the queue gets big at lunchtimes.
