History

Established in 1985.

Macdonald Design Ltd was formed in 1985 by Stephen Macdonald and has since grown and broadened its experience and ability to meet the creative requirements of clients. Serving diverse needs in commercial design, residential construction, sports club design and public service sectors. The company has been structured to offer an affordable and multi-​skilled package of high quality services that can satisfy the needs of large scale commercial projects as well as smaller scale residential works. Our project team for each client is tailored to suit the project scale and creative needs. We therefore are happy to work on local projects (Surrey and Home Counties) from £30,000 upwards and major commercial projects nationally up to £10 million.

Steve Macdonald gained valuable experience prior to forming Macdonald Design working as Design and Development Director for the Sears Retail Group which included Miss Selfridge, Wallis and Selfridges. Steve heads up Macdonald Design as lead consultant and designer. The company has grown in diversity and eventually Steve’s contacts and experience in the Sports and Recreational Field led the company to now be recognised as one of the leading sports and leisure building design companies.

Steve also spends a large amount of time working with Sports Governing Bodies including The ECB and Surrey County Cricket Club. His considerable experience in the design of sports buildings, in particular, has led to his appointment as Chairman of the Facilities Working Group for Surrey County Cricket Club of which he is also a Board Trustee where he provides the County with invaluable advice and guidance on the design and management of sports related projects.
