On the Cleethorpes visit, we went to this bar several times. According to locals in the know, it’s the only place to go. I can see why — it’s got something of a Mediterranean vibe to it, with a little patio out the front, from which the sea is just about visible, and inside it’s tiled, with a long hall style area and a few tables near the bar. It has its own brewery, as the owner is something of a beer geek apparently, and there’s plenty of good spirits, good real ales, and a range of lagers to sup. Come the weekend it can become a bit of a squeeze, but unlike some places, this seemed to add to the atmosphere, which was by and large rather jovial. It even has a back entrance that makes you feel like you’re stepping in(or out) of some kind of secret bar. I am a fan.

This has been about the most popular pub Northeast Lincs for a long time for very good reasons. There’s fantastic views over the Humber Estuary, the staff are friendly, there’s a good variety of lager, real ale and tasty home cooked food at unbeatable prices. The food is available every lunch time and most weekday evenings and some of the real ale is brewed in its own micro brewery. There’s always a friendly yet lively atmosphere and thankfully there’s no bouncers! It often get very busy during summer evenings and weekend evenings all year. Its about as ‘Cosmopolitan’ as it gets in Cleethorpes, with customers of all ages and all walks of life. As regards dress anything goes, so long as its decent!

Willy’s is a great little pub on the seafront at Cleethorpes and to make it even better it brews its on beer. The bar offers great views out across the Humber and there are some good fish and chip shops nearby. Willy’s is a must for me on my annual pilgrimage to watch the Mighty Mariners.

I haven’t been in here on an evening or weekend so I can’t comment on the evening atmosphere although a colleague of mine who stayed a couple of nights a week while working with us would always make sure he was in on a thursday night for a curry and a pint. Walking by on the weekends it appears jam packed so not really for me. I have been in several times on a weekday for a pint and something to eat and I can understand why it gets packed in an evening and the weekend. There is a good variety of food and the prices are fairly low with regular specials on. The variety of beers are good including a lot of real ales(some brewed in house at the macro brewery). Prices are very good. The service has always been quick when I have visited but again at the weekends and evenings it does tend to get a bit packed so it could take a while longer. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Willys wine bar is a lovely building right on the seafront. Huge glass windows with views of the sea. it gets amazingly packed especially in Summer when a huge crowd is usually outside drinking as well as being full inside. It is pretty unusual as it has it’s own brewery. As it brews its own beer it is great for real ale enthusiasts they do food at lunch time but not tried it so no idea what it is like. Friendly staff if you can get near the bar and a good crowd of all ages. Another great place for viewing the Cleethorpes carnival from.
