Pleasure Island Theme Park

So I went to cleethorpes for a weekend getaway with my partner and we decided to visit their ‘theme’ park.
The entrance is… welcoming to say the least but as you walk through the barriers and on into the park your greeted by garish, loud, happy clappy children’s music that is just on repeat.
As you continue to walk up they have concrete, orange painted buildings in a indian style which are ‘Ali babas arcade’ and the food court. What India has to do with the whole park is beyond me: S we decided to eat at the park and we wish we hadn’t. The burgers we got were beyond greasy and the chips were cold. Plus it was extremely expensive!
Everything at pleasure island is so spread out too, and all the exciting things were broken up by children’s rides. It clearly isn’t a park suited for thrill seekers, although ‘boomerang’ was okay (but it’s nothing you can’t find in other parks)
To be honest, the park opens at 10am and closes at 4pm most days it’s open (note it’s closed a lot through the week) and we were there an hour and we’d seen everything and were starting to get bored. I told my partner I’d much rather be on the beach making sandcastles!
And don’t even get me started on the bird show (I study animal management at university) and could see one of the macaws displaying stereotypical behaviours which arise when they are bored or stressed. We went on a pedal thingy and it passed the aviarys they kept the birds in and I was more than shocked!
Once you’ve been to somewhere like Alton Towers, Thorpe Park or even places like Magic Kingdom nothing really compares. It’s really not as entertaining as we’d hoped. Another thing that wound me up is that toilets were really scattered across the park, so if you needed to pee you had to walk to the other side of the park :/​
My tips would be don’t go there expecting much. If you want real thrills save your money and go to Alton Towers instead. This is more of a place for children. If you don’t have children in tow you can get round this place easily in two hours as there are very rarely queues for rides so you’ll be left wondering what else to do next!

we came here for the day today. its not a bad place go but its aimed mainly at older kids. bring your own food though as the food court is very expensive!

In my opinion this park is really good for younger kids, there are acts they can watch such as tellytubbies, loads of rides for them to go on, and a few adventure playgrounds, there is a huge choice of places to eat, and the whole place has a nice atmosphere,
In my opinion though its not the best theme park for older children, There isnt as much for them to do as say somewere like alton towers, were you get your big rides, however its a lot better value coming here so still worth family days out .as long as older kids are forwarned not to be expecting to bigger rides

Very big and very fun theme park. There are cafes and toilets avalible. Has a very big carpark. Large choice of rides including some for all ages. Can get very busy in summer. You pay to get in but it’s worth it. Great day out for all ages!

brilliant out of season hardly any one there you could walk around without getting shoved all over. My daughter really enjoyed herself here and i didn’t feel as worried as when its full to the brim. If you can go in the quieter times then i would reccommend it hugely but not so in peak season.
