My business is buying and selling old tools and books in decent /​good condition, the more unusual and rarer the better.

As well as old tools I buy and sell old buckets, watering cans, oil cans, petrol cans, dolly tubs when I can source them at the right price.

I also buy and sell some military memorabilia and collectables in pottery, silver/​silver plate, wood etc.

I source my stock from a wide variety of people and places, and in doing so meet interesting people some of whom become friends.

As well as selling on Chesterfield Market every Thursday and Friday I also stand at Newark Autojumbles and sell online from my website: sec​ond​-time​-around​.co

I began working for myself after the firm I had worked at for over 30 years went into liquidation making myself and all the other employees redundant.

Working on markets and at autojumbles seemed a better idea than being in a shop at one location all the time, plus being healthier out in the open air!

Opening a website is a recent addition, I decided it would offer an opportunity to sell to people from all over the UK not just in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. It is still in it’s early stages but I feel good about it.
