Very centrally located in the Lanes shopping Centre and easily accessible by escalator lift and stairs. The Library is well stocked and is on two levels. Fiction and reference books and microfische machines are on the upper level while the adult fiction and CDs and DVDs and children’s section is on the lower floor. The children’s section has just been revamped with a great castle theme that is really inviting to the children. If you have toddlers have a look at the different story sacks they have. These are brilliant and my children loved them. Each sack contains a book, a game or activity relating to the book, sometimes a toy also connected to the book and other things to do with the same story book. A simple but clever idea. There are self service machines that allow you to scan your books yourself which is handy at busier times of the day. You can also telephone them to renew your books or go online too to do this which is very convenient. There are often small exhibitions in the library too about the local area or by local craftsmen or artists. You can spend hours in here as they also stock all the daily newspapers too.

We go to the library a lot. It’s open on a Sunday afternoon, and my son loves playing on the Wii in the children’s section. Adult section is much more browsable since they refurbished it. Their new catalogue is much easier to use and you can do a lot on the internet before you come in. Huge sheet music collection too.

I always love coming to the library. I often nip in to use the internet when I am up town as it’s cheaper than an internet café. Book availability is quite good and you can always the one you want if it is out on loan. My daughter loves the newly renovated children’s area
