Smyths

As far as toy shops go, Smyth’s is the best kept secret in the retail world.
Having never heard of the shop prior to my visit, I was blown away with the amount of items on offer when I walked through the shop doors. If you’re looking for a place to get a present for anyone under the age of twelve, Smyth’s is the place to go, with everything from cuddly toys to video games littering each well-​stocked aisle.
Situated just a stone’s throw away from Cardiff City Stadium, Smyth’s is in a great location with a huge car park and a variety of shops in the surrounding area. If you’re short on ideas for Christmas presents, a trip to Smyth’s will leave you with either a head full of ideas or handful of full shopping bags.

I find Smyths to be much nicer than Toys ‘R’ Us. It has much more of a focus on toys while I feel that Toys ‘R’ Us is starting to put too much of its attention onto computer games rather than good old-​fashioned fun.
The toys are stacked high up to the ceiling and there are endless aisles of dolls which has the little girl in me getting very excited. This toy store also has some wonderful cuddly toys at the back of the store. The last time I went there, there was an enormous dog that was so soft and snuggly that I had to buy it for my friend’s new baby.
The outdoor toys this store sells are also incredible. I never had a particularly large garden growing up (although I was lucky enough to have a swing) so outdoor toys and climbing frames, trampolines, pools and sandpits still hold a huge fascination and awe for me because they were something that I always dreamed of having in my garden.
They also do a really great arts and craft section unlike any I’ve ever seen in another toy store.
Not as big as Toys ‘R’ Us, but so much better!

This toy really reminded me of old Toys ‘r’ Us stores. As you enter your greeted by aisles of toys stacked up the rather high ceiling. It pretty much looks like a warehouse.
They have a good range of stock from equipments for your babies, through pre-​school learning toys, to traditional games and video games. Not much of a bike selection of like I love about Toys ‘r’ us but its still good to have another option at good competitive price.
