Sitting on the back patio was simply lovely for a wonderful evening meal. Service was great because each server was attentive to us whenever they were near. I ate the traditional pork roast with Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The pork was slightly tough, but the gravy was rich and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. My mother had the chicken with red pepper sauce and asparagus, and her only complaint was that there was too much sauce, but the food was very tasty. For dessert, we had the berry cobbler and treacle pudding with custard. Both were simply delicious and the pudding had a great presentation.

Ordered a massive burger. not the best out there. bit dry to be honest. so were the chips. Went for a second time with boyfriend and his mum as they chose it, ordered a beef roast. not that great either. Dry once again and it was horribly tough and chewy that my jaws were hurting for the rest of the day… good service though, friendly people. wouldn’t come back again though.

The Old Weavers House Restaurant is lovely, cozy, and inviting. We were in Canterbury on a rainy winter day and looking for a late lunch /afternoon snack. We saw the Old Weavers House sign and that it is right next to the water and couldn’t resist to step in. We would have liked to sit by the window of the first floor overlooking the river, but those prime seats were all taken. We were seated upstairs, which is also lovely. I ordered the lamb that came with a Yorkshire pudding(which I’ve never had before) while my husband opted for the Steak and Ale Pie. We both ordered a pint of beer and enjoyed our meals. I thought both dishes were pretty good and the portion was surprisingly big. I especially enjoyed the Yorkshire pudding, giving that it’s the first time I tried it, and it was tasty. I am by no means, an expert on British cuisine, so I can’t say whether the Old Weaver House served up kick butt traditional British food. But I am a fan because the location is great, the atmosphere warm and inviting, the food is tasty and the service was friendly(eh… not quick, but friendly). In high season, I can just imagine this place being PACKED, giving its prime location. Our dining experience was great because on a cold and rainy quiet afternoon, having a hot meal in a warm cozy room with a pint of beer just can’t be beat!

This is my third time here, so it must be OK. The Old Weavers serves traditional English fayre(with some additions). This is not a fancy restaurant but is very good value wholesome food. The main courses of note are pies(various meat fillings) and roasts(beef and pork) there we go! Don’t come here and expect haute cuisine come here and enjoys Steak and Ale Pie with perfectly cooked vegetables at an excellent price. Good, old fashioned and no nonsense. Well recommended. P.S make sure you book at weekends as it does get busy!
