Funky Monks was established in July 1996 by brother and sister Pete and Kelly Chittenden after a brief period of having a vintage clothing stall in the premises next
door — Canterbury’s indoor market

As children, my sister and I grew up around my father running an antiques shop and doing house clearances. We were constantly surrounded by interesting things from the past. My mother had a passion for vintage clothing and would drag us around all the local jumble sales. I believe that our childhood has played a huge part in the opening of Funky Monks vintage clothing.
