Had a pretty dreadful Ploughmans and pot of whitebait. Three little bits of cheese, all smaller than the slab of butter, one bit barely more than just rind. Bit disappointing given how grand they make the interior look. Perhaps it’s just the snack menu which is so disappointing?

A very nice gastro pub. A bit pricey, but good food, quiet ambience and perfect for dinner. It is a good place for a leisurely meal and conversation.

I must say — these have to be the most charming ladies that run this adorable pub in the most quaint town nestled in the English countryside. The interior is just like the demeanor of the staff: warm, likeable, and feels like home. In fact, it was incredibly difficult to determine where we wanted to dine, because of the sheer cuteness found in the décor and ambiance of The Grumpy Mole. It was just too damn nice outside to take a beautiful, sunny day in England for granted. So, we opted to sit on their patio and enjoy a near perfect day. Knowing how delicious the curry is in the UK, I opted for that choice and my high expectations were met. The chicken was tender and well prepared. The curry flavor was abound but not overpowering, while the naan and rice were soft, not stale. But the real highlight of the experience was the charcuterie plate packed with meats, cheeses, olives, and more. If only I had the fortune to return to England more often, then I would visit The Grumpy Mole on every visit. For now, I will dream of that day and hope it is on a cold, winters night, where the interior of the Grumpy Mole is cozy and warmed by a crackling fire place, of which I am sitting by while sipping on a piping mug of cider.

Stop by on a Sunday at 17.30, fancy a nice pub meal with a good selection of fish dishes. Service great, menu great & wine list great. You can either eat in the very cool & relaxed bar area or in the separate relaxed & intimate dinning area. Attentive service without interruptions of how is your meal the staff ask after each course which allows you the privacy & intimacy necessary. My partner had the white bait to start & the venison Wellington for main, I had the prawns to start & the see bass with prawn & white wine sauce for main. The veg were crisp & tasty the meal was so good we shared & tasted each others. This is pub food of a high level. Will be going again very soon! Yum!

I’m not sure I could actually create a better restaurant if I tried. Both this one and the one in Tadworth are absolutely top notch. The menu is very varied, but absolutely everything on it is superb. Their pies(which change every day) are particularly amazing, as is the venison wellington and piri piri chicken. In fact, you cannot go wrong here — it’s all delicious. The service and the ambience are both excellent too. My whole family loves both the Grumpy Mole restaurants and we use any excuse to go!
