Awful service at the table. Small foreign blonde waitress let me know when it came to paying that she was pissed off because she was meant to finish at 9pm but our table stopped her from doing so. She proceeded to be annoyed until we left– crap!

Went to Zest on Mothers Day as a treat and it was OK… Considering the reviews I thought it was going to be amazing and it was nice but nothing out of the ordinary, I thought. We arrived for the earliest dinner slot at 5.30pm(they close between lunch and dinner) and the first thing I noticed was that it smelled like someone had been smoking IN the restaurant, which is not something I’m used to smelling these days! We ordered the bread, oils and olives first but the oil tasted strange… Like it could have been cooking oil rather than olive oil and there was far too much compared to balsamic vinegar in a deep pot so to get down to any balsamic vinegar you had to endure far too much oil and it wasn’t nice! For starters I had falafel and the other half had fish cake and they were both nice, falafel was a little bit dry. For mains we both had the meat mezze and it was good, a nice balance of different things and nice sauces. The food was good, and for how much it costs it is brilliant value for money(2 courses £9.95) but I’ve had much better Greek at Entelia… but it was at a price so I guess it depends on your budget. I’d go again as its good value and nice food, but I wouldn’t book it for a meal I wanted to impress people with.

Zest is a compact eatery at the top of Gloucester Rd, serving predominantly Mediterranean fare. It’s possible to call in for just a coffee, and even drink it al fresco at a couple of tables on the pavement in front of the establishment. This is not, however, the prettiest stretch of Gloucester Road, with little else to see apart from a constant stream of traffic, and so unless you are an ardent smoker, I recommend taking refreshment indoors. The interior is lovely; decorated in clean colours with natural exposed wood, far superior to the grimy street it graces. Being a family business attention is paid to the detail, and standards are consistently high. It also means that you are guaranteed a friendly reception and attentive service. Lending a familial feel to the place, the serving staff are chatty and knowledgeable, always willing to engage if desired. It’s also possible to enjoy a discreet meal without interruption if this is preferred. This is one o the places I visit if I’m on my own as I’m always made to feel at home.

For what I thought was just another little coffee shop /café I was pleasantly surprised to find is in fact quite the little restaurant. The cuisine is Mediterranean with a couple of British favourites, and the décor follows suit — distinctly foreign with a touch of home. Earthy brown and orange colours give a homely warm atmosphere and the staff really know their stuff. It’s the sort of place where you can have a nice sit down meal without feeling too over pretentious or having to dress up. The food isn’t the best I’ve ever had but it’s definitely closer to the higher end of the spectrum. In the day time it’s a good place to grab a coffee, though a little far from town if you’re not in the area. All in all I was pretty happy and will definitely be coming back.

Fancy eating out, but not really up for getting overly dolled up and keeping it more of a casual affair? Well then may i suggest Zest to you. This place serves up some truly delightful mediterranean dishes in relaxing, well decorated enviroment. Myself and a few friends decided that we needed to treat ourselves to a meal out together but we weren’t really wanting to burn massive holes in our pockets and have to spend hour upon hour getting dressed up — which made Zest an ideal choice. They have a well stocked bar, the staff ar very friendly. I would deffiiently return here again in the future because I had such a good experience the first time round.

Don’t let the day time looks put you off this place, it’s a great venue to pop to in the evening for a meal. During the day it gives off the impression that it’s a bit of a ‘wanna be trendy café’. But the truth is… well, it is pretty trendy. Inside the decour is tastefully done, and the seating is nicely spaced so you can have a comfertable eating expierence. The food is mediterrainean in style.

Better breakfast than Tinto Lounge, good prices and friendly staff. Atmosphere is really relaxing. Could do with more beer options but it does say Mediterranean on the sign! Will definitely go back again and again.

Eat here with my wife and as we wanted to try their Mediterranean cuisine. The food, setting and staff are all really good and the place was busy when we went but didn’t have to wait to long between courses. They do two courses for about £12 which is good. We will go here again next time with a group of friends and confident they will all enjoy the place. Would give 5 stars but they didn’t have many soft drinks if driving and can’t drink wine! Was very full after the main course and I had the Chicken + Lamb kofta included tasty dips, humus, bread, salad etc.
