The nicest thing I can think of to say about Westbourne Chippy is that it’s quite cheap. Cod and chips for £3.50. I don’t know if the fryer was having a bad day, but the cod was very badly cooked and prepared. It is unusual to keep the skin on, but Westbourne Chippy do this and that’s not a nice thing to bite into. The fish was overcooked and not particularly fresh. The quantity was on the small side compared to other chip shops in the area, but I wouldn’t have wanted more. Some of it had to go in the bin as it just inedible. The person serving also seemed to be having a bad day. Complaints were coming in from other customers about wrong change being given and she seemed unable to sort it out without help. No bag was given to me to take the food home in I was left to hold it in the paper wrapping.

If you’re in East Bristol and fancy some absolutly cracking fish and Chips give this place a try. The cod is actually cod not pollack which alot of chipies try and pass off and the quality of the batter is the best ive every tasted. The chips are also pretty dam good! The only draw back is that it is a takeaway and there is no eat in facility. But when its this good you can just sit on a wall or in your car and get greasy fingers. Or hightail it to eat at home. A small cod and chips(which is large in most other chippies) is £3.50 and a large which could feed two is £5.70. They also do yummy burgers and kebabs and decent curry sauce. But really its all about the cod !
