W C Stutt and Co.

There’s nothing faddy about W C Stutt and Co. who have been family butchers for nearly a century. Opened in 1919 the three generations of Stutts that have kept the business running must have seen some mighty big changes in their time.
Has this inspired them to tweak what they do? Most certainly not! They do not supply organic meats, nor do they stock wildebeest or kangaroo. What they do, they’ve been doing without any perceptible changes since the origins of the business. Even the paint on the façade has only managed to cling to the structure as long as it has owing to the amount of lead that glues it in place! (This is a joke by the way… just my way of telling you that the exterior decoration isn’t exactly fresh… lead paint was outlawed decades ago!)
If you want conventional cuts of meat from traditionally farmed animals all wrapped up in a slice of down-​to-​earth Bristol history then the Stutts are your people. They don’t have a website, or any of that other new-​fangled nonsense that gets in the way of their daily routines. They are simply a local business serving local people, and that’s just fine and dandy as far as they are concerned. They get my vote.
