Description

Specialties

We’re famous for our Thalis (a plate of complimentary dishes served with rice, salad and chutneys) but you’ll find classic Indian snacks, breads and treats on our menu too; poppadums, pakoras, mango lassies and, of course, India’s ubiquitous cups of chai! We also serve fabulous coffee and homemade cakes.

Millions of Indians eat Thali for lunch and dinner every day; it’s a traditional well-balanced meal that has kept a nation healthy and nourished for centuries.

We make almost everything ourselves using fresh, seasonal and sustainable produce that, wherever possible, is bought from local suppliers.

Each of our Thali Cafes is built into the fabric of the community it is part of; they are cosy warm spaces that provide a stage for local artists and musicians. Bring the whole family (kids very welcome) or just your laptop and find a quiet corner to log on there’s free Wifi for all.

History

Established in 1999.

It all started with a simple idea; to bring the delicious dishes we’d tried on our travels in India to our friends back home. That was over 10 years ago and we have now served countless Thali meals to Bristolians and festival-goers nationwide.

We now have four restaurants in Bristol, and each time we’ve shunned mainstream locations in favour of areas with a strong sense of community where we can foster relationships with local people and businesses.

Every summer we still take to the road for the festival season where we acquaint more folks with the joy of Thali, soak up the vibrant, chaotic atmosphere and bring a little bit back with us to Bristol when we come home.

Our award winning Tiffin Takeaway Club takes its inspiration from the subcontinent too. Join and you can have your Thali piping hot at home in your very own reusable Tiffin.
