St Peter’s Hospice Shop

I always go in here on my way to town (from Gloucester Road), but I rarely come out with anything. That is because I think that, for a charity shop, it is somewhat overpriced. You’d think I’d have learned my lesson and just give it a miss now, but I still hold onto the hope that one day I will grab me a right old bargain from there. In reality, they have Primark clothes (bearing in mind that the second biggest Primark is situated next door) for either what they’d cost brand new in the store or, in an occasional flabbergasted moment, even more expensive than buying new from the store. Why anyone would pay more for a second hand item they could get cheaper brand new by going next door, I will never know. I know it’s charity and all but come on. Be realistic St Peter’s Hospice Shop.

St Peter’s Hospice Shops raise money for Bristol’s only adult hospice which cares for local people with incurable diseases. It could be because Bristolian’s feel so passionate about this charity and the work that they do that their shops are so positive and a pleasure to visit. It’s obvious too see how much locals care by the quality and abundance of the donations they give.
I’ve found so many weird and wonderful items of clothing, sometimes designer, at fair prices. They have a fantastic brick-​a-​brac section where I have bought most of my kitchenware from over the past year. The workers here are positive, happy and helpful with a key eye on what makes a charity shop worth visiting. What I love most about this shop is the effort that they put into their window displays and the layout of their shops. Other local charities could learn a thing or two from St Peter’s Hospice.
