After hearing about the curry houses my bf visits in Bristol after a few pints with his mates, I was more than stoked to check out what all the fuss was about. Soon after pulling up to Rajpoot I realized he wasn’t taking me to the kind of place he usually goes. It is set in a beautiful old town house on a gorgeous lot and a much fancier place than I was expecting, but definitely not uncomfortably fancy. Was a perfect atmosphere and the food was lovely… although we did have a few pints of cider down the road prior, so anything might have tasted delicious to me at that point! But seriously though, this was very good Indian food. We started with the fish kofta and a calamari dish of sorts and both were very tasty but the kofta a little bland and the calamari a little too spicy for us, but we enjoyed them both. For dinner we both played it a bit safe and went with tikka masala, I with shrimp and he with chicken. It was excellent. Some of the best I’ve had even from some of the places here in New York, creamy and very flavorful, a bit milder than I like but because it was seasoned so well and prepared beautifully it didn’t matter in the least. The rice served with it was amazing and the naan was heavenly. The service was also on par. All in all a very lovely meal.

Good spot, good food. The menu here has got the reputation of being slightly expensive. That is simply because the rest of the curry restaurants/​houses in the city are all average price and average food.
The situe of the restaurant is representative of the the restaurants level, the food is delicious, i thoroughly recommend the samba chicken. The restaurant itself is smart, you feel like you are eating in a real restaurant, not a grimy curry house.
If you like your curries then this place is about as good as you will get in Bristol.

Set overlooking the Downs, Rajpoot is definitely not the type of place to go if you fancy a quick curry, but more of a ‘family meal’ pricier expensive option in which to enjoy the nations favourite. There are a few Rajpoots dotted around the country and they are typically housed in listed buildings. Serving up fabulous authentic Indian Cuisine, it is a finer establishment with a posh interior and excellent service, the kind you’d expect if you ever have walked in and seen the inside!
If you are expecting a curry and a pint, I’d look elsewhere, but if it’s a special occasion that you’re out for, and you’d rather a glass of fine wine with your meal and a classier dining environment than the local takeaway, Rajpoot is for you.

Rajpoot is Indian cuisine set in an elegant sophisticated location befitting the standards of the menu, which is by itself, a first class experience.
As a converted Georgian town house over looking the Bristol downs, Rajpoot is certainly one of the best located Indian restaurants in the city and as a dining experience it is certainly in a different league to many other eateries around the city. The food here is authentic Indian cuisine and not the bastardized version of it you find in most other places, so if you’re looking for a tikka masala, look else where.
If you’re more serious about your Indian cuisine and want traditional dishes, great service, a wonderful location and that touch of sophistication often missing from similar restaurants, this place is the one for you. The prices are a little steep, but it’s very obvious why.

Sitting proudly at the top of Whiteladies Road, Rajpoot has been serving up sumptuous Indian cuisine since, well, ever since I can remember. The first thing that strikes you on entering is that it can’t really be described as a curry house: the term Indian restaurant is far more appropriate. This isn’t the sort of place where lagered up lads tolerate ropy food in return for one more pint, but a first rate restaurant where the food takes centre stage.
The menu is imaginative and varied without just piling on all the old favourites. You can’t just choose your favourite curry, rice and naan and you’re away, as all the main courses come with the sundries appropriate to that dish. The emphasis is very much on authentic Indian cuisine, not its spiced up English offspring.
It may have garnered something of a reputation for being expensive, but Rajpoot really is a cut above, especially in the presentation stakes. The interior is clean and bright and their excellent service has attracted a large following of loyal regulars. And if the weather’s on your side you can relax out front and gaze out across the Downs.

This is an excellent Indian restaurant. It is beautifully decorated, tables beautifully laid.
The food is wonderful, each course was fabulous. The staff were very competent, but helpful and friendly. It is somewhere you might go for a special evening, but you could go with a group of friends, and really have a good time.
It is situated in a great part of the city, easy for pubs and clubs, and accross the road from the Downs. I would reccomend it to anyone.

My first impression was the restaurant looked very posh for an indial, it was more like for the indian mahraja. The restaurant was small and had a really nice cosy feel to it. The food was also quiet good, I told them how I liked it and they didnt dissapoint, would go there again but not drive as it was difficult to get parking.

Very small inside but designed and decorated to a very high standard (fit for the Queen no joke!)
Excellent service and the menu offer some different ideas as far as Indian fine dining goes.
Food is quality and all presented to a high standard.
This is nothing like a typical Indian but a cut above many of the best

Indian food fine dining. A high rating as the food is the best Indian food I’ve eaten in this country. Presentation was as good as any 1st class restaurant but the service was quite slow but forgiven as although only a small establishment they were packed solid. We did feel a bit squeezed it but we weren’t that bothered and they did apologise but told us there were a couple of large parties in that night. I have yet to try the takeaway service and don’t be confused that there are no popadums on the menuthey do serve, fresh and crispy. Clean plates all round.
