«If you can’t find it here, it doesn’t exist» my mate said to me as we were about to walk in. And he wasn’t wrong! They pretty much sell anything you could want, and more! I love shops like this; you go in for a light bulb and come out with an industrial sweeping brush, a pair of pliers, spirit level and some rhododendron bulbs! It’s one of those shops that your grandad used to go to grandad every Saturday for ‘bits’ and know everyone in there. I can’t wait to take my grandkids here. But in the mean time, I’ll keep trying to only buy what I go in for.

I’ve been going to pearce’s since i was a kid with my grandpa! And i even used to live up stairs :) They sell literally ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. If i’m honest, to much… it’s so cluttered and messy yesshhh!!! Take out the clutter and Pearces is a great place to get any garden items, building supplies, cooking. anything to do with the home. I wish they would strip back a little and get back to what was good. I feel they are trying to hard to have something for everyone and loosing what was great about the store.

Call it a flaw but I love these kinds of shops. So much more than just hardware, Pearce’s sells everything you can think of. Seriously, give it a try; novelty ice cube tray, check; fishing line, check; spray paint, check. Add to this cleaning supplies, hanging baskets, children’s toys and a modest haberdashery department and you could practically live out of this store. I’d often discounted this store in favour of Bishopston Hardware but there are so many more items in here than the shop front would allude to. Currently I have my eye on a pack of oversized playing cards for £2.50 and a pack of 10 kitchen sponges for £1 but I would steer clear of the kitchenware as I think it is quite expensive for what products there are.

If you’re trying to buy less amazing incredible things you definitely have to have, probably best you don’t go in here. In Pearce’s Hardware they sell literally just about everything. Tea pots, draught excluders, big chains, little chains, strong chains, weak chains, watering cans, mouse traps, glues, plugs, shower heads, thermos flasks, duct tape, plant food, umbrellas, staple guns and the largest, most impressive selection of toasters I have ever seen. Enough said.

This is one of those Aladdin’s Cave type shops, stocking a range of useful and not so useful products. The place has a higgledy-piggledy feel to it, which seems to be the case with most hardware stores. If you’re planning a camping trip and need to stock up on essential items, this is the place to go. You’ll find a variety of wood, fuels, barbeque and fire starting equipment, in addition to watering cans, gnomes and, of course, dried flowers. Staff are friendly and accommodating, and ready to offer advice. Go and have a gander — just don’t get lost!
