Compuwave

My laptop had broken at the hinges and would not close. Nothing wrong with the running of the laptop, just that I could not transport it anywhere. After taking the laptop in to another computer repairs shop (2 doors down from Compuwave), I was told that the laptop was a lost cause, the part to order to fix it would cost £80 plus labour - I was looking at £150. He told me my best bet was to buy another one (as he pointed at some for sale in his shop!).. after explaining I only needed the laptop for 3 months maximum, I was still told not to bother. I then went in to Compuwave and was greeted with a warm smile by Aaron, I told him the problem and that I only needed a quick fix for a few months ... He was extremely helpful and told me there was a cheaper way to fix it, which would mean not ordering any expensive parts... it would just be to bolt the laptop back together, not the most aesthetically pleasing but as I didn't need it for long, it was the best option. He agreed a flat rate of £49 with me and 2 days later, the laptop was fixed! He even cleaned it!! - it now looks sparkling and works as good as new! I am extremely happy with the result (especially as the first place told me not to bother!).

My laptop was having overheating problems and I suspected a new fan would be required. I contacted a couple of other laptop repair places in Bristol — to be quoted a very high hourly rate by one, and «I’m too busy to help you» from the other.
Compuwave were close enough to my home and work for me to pop in and discuss my problem before I had to take in my laptop.
I took my laptop in on my next trip to work, and picked it up again on the way home. The helpful staff explained how they had cleaned out the dust from inside the fan, and they didn’t think it would need the new fan, but if it did, they had located the part number, and would only charge me for the part itself if I needed it. I was only charged for an hour’s labour for the cleaning too.
Top marks! I’ve never had to have a laptop repaired before, and although I hope never to have to again, I would definitely bring my laptop back to Compuwave.
