Been in there a few times because it is cheap and cheerful, the last time was when the snow was on the ground and it was freezing. There was only the two of us and an elderly gentleman in the whole of the café — we assume by the way he was behaving toward the staff the elderly gentleman owned the place. After sitting on the top part for ten minutes he came down to where we were sitting, turned off the one heater we were huddled around trying to keep warm and buggered off back up the stairs saying something in another language to a chap behind the counter. Myself and my friend both put our gloves on and sat for a bit longer, our food and hot drinks got cold really quickly and we left. Disgusting, it’s definitely put us off the place and we won’t be going in there again cheap or not. Just because the food is cheap doesnt mean we should freeze or put up with such rudeness or lack of consideration for the very people who keep this business going.

This is fairly charmless little place that fits in well in the grey and grimy corner of town where it’s to be found. Not quite a full blown greasy spoon, but close enough with the smell of cooking bacon being what drew me in. Cheap and cheerful would be the phrase that comes to mind if they’d throw a bit of paint on the walls. As it stands things are bit drab for cheerful to be an appropriate descriptions, but the prices certainly aren’t too shabby. Getting something to take away is probably the best idea. The coffee here is certainly drinkable and not at the eye-watering prices are nearby Starbucks. As names go, Café Central doesn’t sound like it had too much thought put into it and the same goes for the rest of the café — reasonable food and drink in a dull setting.

When you’ve got Café Amore, Baristas and even, I hate to say it,. two Starbucks within close proximity, I’m sorry but there is no much reason for you to frequent Café Central. This direly-named, vaguely greasy-spooned destination has its fans — mornings it’s packed with people supping their tea and tucking into bacon rolls. There isn’t anything very different about it though — it probably hasn’t seen a lick of paint in a decade and perhaps not a new customer either(apart from me of course). If you’re about to jump on the bus home from town and want a really, really cheap and rather good cup of tea, then perhaps I can recommend it. The flapjacks looked fresh and appealing too. Aside from that… nothing to see here!
