Ashrif Food & Wine

Ashrif’s Food and Wine is a local convenience store about 50 meters from The Better Food Company. It’s open late, and so provides a viable alternative to the larger store down the road that carries some similar products. I used to use Ashrif’s Food and Wine when I lived briefly in St Werburghs. I found their organic milk lasted longer than milk bought from The Better Food Company, and their vegetables and fruit (although often not organic), were a lot less expensive. I particularly like the soft fruit selections that Ashrif’s have in the summer, which aren’t available elsewhere in this area.
I also like the fact that the employees are from different parts of Asia. I was particularly gratified to learn that they’d taken on a Kashmiri about the same time that I moved there. Having lived in India I am acutely aware of the problems associated with being Kashmiri… they have a raw deal which ever way that you look at it.
The product range is quite broad, if the selection is a little limited. But it’s possible to buy all the ingredients to make an evening meal as well as alcohol and snack foods. A great little shop in my estimations.
