DONOTGOHERE! worst bar in Bristol by far, the staff are so rude! the bouncers are aggressive but no wonder if they are employed by the owner of this club who is a tiny aggressive weasle excuse of a human being. The place needs to be shut down in my opinion.

Although I haven’t been to this place too many times I actually really like it here and I think they’ve definitely got something good going on. Antix is a place where you can«eat, drink, and dance» so it’s a mix between a bar, a club and a pub. During the day they are open for refreshments and somewhere to grab lunch or an evening meal, and in the evening they liven up and turn into more of a club/bar. Being located on Park Street is a definite benefit to this place and especially on Friday or Saturday nights it can get very busy and has a buzzing atmosphere — this is when I’d recommend checking it out for the best experience. The interior is pretty basic but also pretty modern, and they have really comfy leather seating that you can relax into over a cocktail or two — or a meal! In terms of food in my experience it’s been really nice and the service is great, they offer things like paninis and jacket potatoes at lunch, and for the evening they have an a la carte menu — and a great wine list! Antix is the sort of place I’d recommend for grabbing a few pre drinks with friends before heading on out to a club afterwards, as although its pretty cool it’s also quite small in size and wouldn’t be somewhere I’d spend the whole night — but each to their own. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area!

Antix is… how to put it… very Park Street. Cheapily furnished, attracting a sleazy weekend clientele and serving up mediocre food and drink, it complements similar venues such as All in One, Agora and Yia Mass. There are plenty of drinks deals on at all hours of day and night if you’re attempting to save pennies, although the cocktails are predictably sugary and unappealing. Food is cheap as well, although again not exactly of the highest quality. Most visits to Antix have been because the club is invariably a last resort for late-night entertainment. When everywhere else is closed or burly bouncers aren’t letting anyone in, Antix will still be open. But beware — it’ll still be cheap, still tacky and still full of sleazy boys on the pull.

Antix is a bar, a café and a club all rolled into one. I think that places that try to roll too much into one never pull it off, and this is not exception. The décor that you can see while you walk past doesn’t entice me, and always makes me wonder who on earth would walk past, think ‘Yes this looks great!’ and sit in here. Which was funny, when one day a friend visiting from London thought that this place looked nice, dragged me in here and ordered food. To be honest, she was partly swayed by the cheaper-than-average-for-Park-Street price tag on the menu. So I found myself in Antix, having a jacket potato and I suppose it is ok for a quite bite to eat. Around 11pm this place turns into a club, which wouldn’t be a club that I would personally ever go to. All in all, it’s ok I suppose, if you like this type of place.

Antix is a bit cold and impersonal for my liking, and despite its prime Park Street location there’s nothing exciting or particularly engaging about the place. When you live or work in the area, inevitably you end up trying most places along the street — but with so many better choices nearby, Antix just doesn’t really compete. The menu is a bit confusing, serving up a mish-mash of different international cuisines(something that immediately makes me a bit suspicious), and while it’s not bad and it’s reasonably priced, it’s not that memorable either. If you want to sip a cocktail with your friends, listening to inoffensive mainstream chart music or R’n’B, it’s perfectly fine — but if you want to enjoy a sit down lunch on Park Street, there are far better places to go.

I prefer my drinking establishments to have a little charm, atmosphere or even a little grit around the edges — this bar has none of those things. While you couldn’t fault the Park Street location, perfect to visit before hitting the Triangle or the city centre, Antix is just a little bland for my liking. On the few occasions I’ve been here, the music has been too loud for conversation and the layout is quite crowded if you’re part of a large group. The décor is modern and I suppose trendy, but that just gives off a rather cold impression. I hasten to add that this has been at night, not during the day, if that helps. I hate to sound like a school teacher but I just feel this one ‘could do better’ and doesn’t quite live up to the hype.

Antix is a cute little place midway up Park Street. Their tag line ‘Eat, Drink, Dance’ pretty much sums up the place. They serve good food, your standard range of alcoholic beverages and they have a small area to dance the night away if you so desire. Food wise there is a good selection, however I was surprised at how quickly my food was served which makes me question how fresh the food is made to order. But hey, it tasted good and I had change left over from my tenner so who’s to complain?

I happened across this place on a night out on Park Street with a few of my old housemates. It’s not really my kind of place, if I’m honest, but I didn’t hate it either. It’s quite trendy inside and has a decent range of cocktails available, which proved to be a hit with the female contingent of our party. Each glass was decorated with curly straws, umbrellas, and(what I believe are called) fireworks, which they all thought was just great. Mind you, considering the price of some of the cocktails in there, adding a few sparkly bits is the least they could do as far as I’m concerned. The whole bar is pretty pricey(think about £3.50 a pint), but you kind of know that’s going to be the case as soon as you walk in. The music played is generally current chart stuff, mainly of the r’n’b/pop genres. It’s pretty small inside, but there’s room enough to fit a small group of you in and have a good time, if this is the kind of thing you’re into.

Old people are a bit like Marmite; you either love them or hate them. For example, I hate it when they say ‘things aren’t like they used to be’, but completely agree that there is too much choice these days. Because that’s how I feel every time I try to choose a place to eat lunch on Park Street — where do I pick? In the spirit of trying out something new, I opted to take my mum for lunch at Antix which, from the outside, look like a fresh, friendly place for a quick bite to eat. The waitress was quick and efficient(almost to the point of hurrying us along) but ultimately chatty and polite. But the menu was a real hodge-podge of styles. There was Italian, British and Cyprian food all nestling in amongst each other which seemed a bit strange but sounded tasty. I opted for a Halloumi salad for £6 which was tasty, but left me feeling hungry. Reasonably priced for service, food and drink but would I go back? Probably not.

I’m a really big fan of Antix– I love the funky décor that makes you think you’re in a really glamorous and expensive bar and I love the atmosphere– laid back yet really gets going as a fun place to go out. There are a lot of good meal deals, especially during the day and the drink prices are good with plenty of special offers. This is becoming one of those must visit bars in Bristol.

Antix is about as large as a shoebox. However, it is a sound choice for a bar at the start of a night out. Commercial R&B and top 40 are on the musical palette at this bar. If that is the type of music you like, there is a small dancefloor opposite the bar to accommodate fans of this type of music.
