Love it here. Great cocktails, simple but elegant menu and über cool vibe. Wonder what it will be like once Brighton i360 opens right opposite?

Latte Luke warm, waiting for brioche bacon roll as writing this. Not too hopeful based on the coffee. Update; God knows why but they added chilli sauce to it, no mention on the menu of this. I won’t be coming back.

Came here on an internet recommendation based on the dirty burger. It was a bit out of our way, but well worth it. This turned out to be one of the best burgers I’ve had — and at least in London — I’ve eaten all the big ones. Ok first — the service. Impeccably polite at all times, we were made to feel very at home. They were stopping cooking shortly but they called ahead to the kitchen to warn them that two more orders were coming. Now for the main event, the dirty burger. It uses 35 day air dried Herefordshire beef that they mince in house. You can tell, but the burger isn’t great just based on that — it was cooked perfectly. Warm pink centre but with a crust on the outside. The cheese was totally melted — Monterey Jack as well. The other star was the quick pickled cabbage. In fact all the toppings were excellent — I only realised it didn’t have sauces on it after I’d polished it off /it hadn’t needed them. The only reason why it dropped a star was the mac and cheese, which was pretty greasy. It was also super cheesy, so it was probably just that the grease seperated in the melting process. But it wasn’t great to have a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. But next time I’m in Brighton I’ll just order fries instead — because there’s no way that I’m only eating that burger just the once. This is worth the journey from London alone.

I did some Googling before our trip to Brighton and as I’m always after a good burger, The New Club came up. The website information said they served from the normal menu until 5.30pm, so we were a bit surprised that at 3:58pm we were told the kitchen was closing at 4pm — but we were able to order and eat without trouble, and the waitress was nice. We both got the Dirty Burger, and we shared some corn and mac & cheese. The corn was tasty — but it was just one big ear, so hard to share! The mac & cheese was really, really oily — we both liked the taste but the oil put us off. The burgers though were very good. The meat had good flavour without being too strong, and it was cooked really well. The bun was soft and held up to the lovely fillings. Definitely worth going back for a burger! The bar was well stocked, too. It did end up being a bit pricey for lunch — 2 burgers, 2 sides, 2 Cokes was a smidge over £30.

Being from Southern California, Sunday fun day by the beach is something I cannot forgo. Having started breakfast with two shots of jack, I’m lucky I remember enough to write this review. However, after uncovering this photo of my boyfriends hangover cure, I felt as if I need to share it with fellow brunch and bacon lovers. Apparently we had a bagel sandwich with avocado, as with bacon, god bless good fatty avocado. Surely if you enjoy your Sundays by continuing from the night before and eating lovely, good food as well, you will give this place try.

It’s not new and it’s not a club, but that aside it is a very cool joint on the seafront. (Psst. It’s actually named after the old private members club that used to occupy this site, which is nice). I wanted a Saturday lunch with a punch, so the promise of meaty bites and cocktails was enough to lure me in. We take our burgers pretty seriously in this city and The New Club doesn’t disappoint with its offerings. I played it safe and had the ‘clean burger’ — salad, gherkins, house sauce, brioche bun with some American cheese thrown in. My friend went wild and had the ‘dirty burger’ — hickory smoked onion/bacon relish, Monterey Jack, salad, pickled cabbage, gherkins, house sauce, brioche bun. The food barely touched the sides on its way down. Its the kind of taste experience that makes you forget about being polite company as you chomp into the pile of flavour. There’s an obvious attention to the way these burgers are crafted and the creators have hit on a winning formula. They take the same care with the varied cocktail menu. I went for a Hard OJ& Lemonade. It was a great lunchtime choice — fruity and refreshing with a kick of vodka. But there are many more enticing concoctions to take you into the evening. The place was really busy and buzzing which made for a great atmosphere, but left the staff a little stretched. And the good old meat and booze combo really works, but the price leans more towards sociable treat than quick easy eat. It also has a great view of the seafront so I’m going to return one morning for a lovely mix of West Pier and pancakes.

What a fantastic breakfast experience really good quality food, really well cooked and served with care. One of the best Bloody Marys I have tasted made with their own smoked tomato juice and served with delicious crispy bacon a real treat. Then delightful light scrambled eggs with American Hash browns and crispy bacon and a side of sourdough toast with good butter. And highly quality coffee. So good I went back the next day and it was just as good.
